Larry C. 'Gildy' Gildersleeve, 72, of Chicago IL, formerly of 231 West Corydon St., Bradford, passed away Monday, November 23rd, 2009 at Alexian Brothers Hospital in Chicago, IL

Born February 22, 1937 in Bradford, he was a son of the late Basil and Harriet (Robbins) Gildersleeve.

A 1955 graduate of Bradford High School, Mr. Gildersleeve received a football scholarship and graduated from Catawba University in North Carolina in 1959 with a degree in education.

On February 9, 2002, in Las Vegas, he married Marcie Ramos, who survives.

He worked in various positions at Zippo Manufacturing for 46 years, including Customer Service Manager, Field Manager and then District Manager in Chicago, from which he retired in 2006.

He was a member of The Exchange Club of Bradford, The Bradford Club and The Pennhills Club.

He is survived by four daughters: Ann-Marie (Steve) Tyler of Newport News, VA, Kathy (Tom) Pavlik, of Bartlett, IL, Amy (Jeff) Tatum, of Seaford, VA, and Stacey Gildersleeve of Bradford, three step daughters: Cheryl (Tom) Burke, of Chicago, IL, April (Jay) Tetrev of Chicago, IL, Kim (Oscar) Cumpian of Chicago, Il and Michelle (Willie) Lawler, of Chicago Ridge, IlL; two sisters, Dorothea (Howard) Fesenmyer of Bradford, and Mary Ann (Dick) Bell, of Bellefonte, 17 Grandchildren, three Great Grandchildren and his beloved dog, GiGi.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Gildersleeve.

Friends are invited to call on Monday, December 7, 2009 in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., East Main Street, from 3pm to 5pm at which time funeral services will be held with Rev. Leo J. Gallina, Pastor of St. Bernard Church, officiating.

Memorial contributions can be made to The American Cancer Society, The Friendship Table, or the charity of the donor's choice.
