Mary S. Knell, 87, of Port Allegany, PA

Port Allegany - Mary S. Knell, 87, of Duke Center, formerly of Port Allegany died Tuesday (November 17, 2009) in the Bradford Regional Medical Center, Bradford.

She was born Aug 22, 1922 in Eldred, a daughter of Richard and Alice Sherwood, On Jan. 11, 1942 in Port Allegany, PA she married Alfred S. Knell, who died April 7, 2007.

Mrs. Knell was a homemaker and worked in the office with her husband during his 16 years as Justice of the Peace. Mrs. Knell and her husband owner and operated Knell’s sport shop from 1956 until 2007..

She was a member of Port Allegany Star Hose Co. No 1, Ladies Auxiliary Port Allegany, PA where she was a life member. Order of the Eastern Star, Myrtle Chapter #46, Port Allegany, PA 16743, and the Moose Lodge #4603, Port Allegany, PA

She is survived by

One daughter: Mary Alice( Jack) Dalaba of Port Allegany, PA

Two sons: Robert W(Carol). Knell of Duke Center, PA, Joseph S.(Juanita) Knell of Port Allegany, PA

11 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son, James Knell, 3 Great Grandsons 8 brothers and 9 sisters.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2009 from 2 - 4 and 6-8 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc, 105 N Main St, Port Allegany, PA., where funeral services will be held on Friday (Nov. 20, 2009) at 11:00 am with the Rev. Randall Headley, pastor of the Port Allegany United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Is this lady the wife of the late Punk Knell? There is no family or relative's listed here or in the paper.I would like to send condolences to her daughter if this is who I think it is. My sympathy's to her family.

Yes this is Punks wife.. I thought my dad was the only one that called alfred that!!

I've lived in Port for 51 years and always knew Alfred as "Punk." My sympathies go out to Sis and Joe.
