Mattress Left In Resident's Front Yard

Nice mattress & box springs free, left in our front yard.

Might want to post this so owner can recall where they left it.

It must have been Leola!!!

lol, seriously though what a shame, I needed some mattresses!

Thanks Jim for the excellent job that you do.

Mr. Lewis, just a thought.
The person who left it may have actually been trying to dispose of it.
It is kind of you to post the picture but I am wondering if maybe it was actually dumped there rather than left there by somebody who forgot that they left it there.
I can ask around but I wonder if you have considered that.
It was very nice of you to try to find the owner so I kind of hate to break that to you and I hope and pray that I am wrong about this.

its called sarcasm 1011..

I am the one who wrote the comment at 10:11. My husband and I went up and put a tarp over the bed to keep it from getting exposed to the weather. If the owner sees this and is able to get the bed you can just leave the tarp there and my husband can stop and pick it up on his way home from work. It is a little but like a lost dog and we are hoping that it finds it's way back home. Have a good weekend everybody.

It doesn't look like a front yard to me....it looks like someone dumping a mattress into a brushy woodlot.

Honestly, I do not agree with dumping especially in someone's front yard, but they have made it so hard and expensive to dispose of items. These people made a bad decision probably because they couldn't afford to dispose of it properly. I think if it were easier to dispose of or recycle and less expensive this type of stuff would stop.

11:00 am you gave me my laugh for the day thank you.

Unbelievable...nobody gives a damn about anyone anymore that is pathetic.

Now you have a place for guests to sleep when they come over and visit.

My husband called from work and says the tarp and bed are still there. He says to write on here that the bed owner can just keep our tarp because you might want to cover it if you are hauling it back home in the back of a truck. Maybe Mr. Lewis could put a little ad in the paper to try to find the owner in case he does not read the Solomons Word. Mr. Lewis if the owner does come forward to claim this and leaves the tarp we can come and pick it up.

If the person(s) did not want these items, why didn't they just put it in THEIR front yard and stick a "FREE" sign on it?

Anonymous said...

perhaps this has been solved. PSP has stopped and located VIN number on mattress. The owner will be notified via certified mail.

This does not mean its solved. How many hands has the mattress been through before it was dumped. The VIN Number only releases information on the person who originally purchased the bed and box springs. They could of handed it down to someone then someone sold it in a yard sale then a family member gave it to a college kid the list can go on and go unsolved.

LOL this has to be the funniest shit. nothing a match wouldnt take care of.

To Mr. Lewis:
I hope you do not mind that we have printed copies of the picture and have posted them at the Jubilee Foods and the Costa Shur Shot grocery stores also the laundrey mat. My husband is putting an ad on the community billboard to try to reach the owner and calling WFRM and Kissfm radio plus the pig and the black forestry broadcaster that Jerry Miller has and if they have a fee then we will pay that. Hopefully whoever lost this will see the posters or the ads. It was very kind of you to put out the notice here in trying to help the owner locate it. That is why we call this Gods Country isn't it?
Blessings to all.

If this was manufactured after 1990, there is both a VIN number and a microchip that could be used to trace this to the owner so there is still hope that whoever lost it could eventually get it back.
Like the lady on here said earlier it is nice of Mr. Lewis to try to assist the owner in locating this. I drove out there and I am worried that whoever is trying to find it will not be able to though because of the tarp that is covering it.
Does anyone know if that VIN chip would be linked to any satellite service that would able to trace how this was transported with the route and so on and so forth? That might be one way to make the owner very happy that somebody found it.

Test it for DNA. It's gotta be full of body fliuds. hair and sweat.

Hello Y'all,YOU found it! My neighbor Mr.Smith has recently rented a woodsy cottage off of RT.6! Leaving Philadelphia in haste and was obviously was driving much to fast, when all of a sudden a Potter County westerly wind removed it from the bed of his truck. He is utterly devastated, and has not slept since his mattress flew away. We will be contacting Mr.Smith and we will personally let him know of your kind actions in taking care of it, and we will request a $50,000.00 reward. GOD BLESS AND GOD SPEED Sincerely J.C.

Anonymous said...

Cynthia, that is great news!
I am sure you are kidding about the reward!
As far as our tarp you can just leave it in Mr. Lewis's yard and my hubby will pick it up on Monday if that is okay. If Mr. Smith needs it to protect it from the elements though he can just take it and cover the bed in the back of his truck. This time though he better tie it down. Ha ha.
Seriously though thank you to Mr. Lewis for taking the time to post a picture and help out another person find a lost item.
That is what makes our world a better place and thanks to Solomons Word too for helping the person who lost this.
Mr. Smith should also thank my husband (Hank) who took the time to cover it with the tarp because the moisture from the melting snow and the rain would have probably damaged it.

I am proud to live in an area where a person will find a lost item and instead of keeping it for himself will reach out with kindness and compassion to locate the rightful owner.
And to think that Hank who doesn't even know the owner is willing to take the time to cover it and protect it.
You are right. This really is Gods Country.
My weekend is a little brighter because of the way this stry unfolded.

Personally I think it was thoughtful of someone to give the nightcrawlers a bit more comfort.

Cynthia: As of Sunday Mr. Smith has not yet picked this up. Hank has decided we really do not want to give up the tarp. He is willing to load up the bed and box springs and we can store them in our garage until Mr. Smith can obtain them. Hank said he could probably do some quick work to restore some of the nails in the box springs. We live out Sartwell Creek. If you can post a number here I can call you to get the contact information for the owner. It was so nice of you to solve the mystery. Thanks again also to Mr. Lewis for caring enough to reach out to the owner of these items. I wonder if Guideposts Magazine would print a story about this? They do print stories about people like Mr. Lewis and Cynthia (and even my Hank) who go the extra mile to help others.

Anonymous said...

We are very angry.
Hank went to see if Mr. Smith had picked up his bed and springs yet.
They were still there and our tarp was stolen!
Cynthia do you want Hank to repair the springs for Mr. Smith? We can store them in our garage.
Unlike some people, we care about our fellow man.
