Pete Wyatt Shares This From His Email

It has been said the greatest volume of sheer brainpower in one place occurred when Jefferson dined alone..." John Kennedy

When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe.

Thomas Jefferson

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.

Thomas Jefferson

It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes.
A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.

Thomas Jefferson

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

Thomas Jefferson

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.

Thomas Jefferson

No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.

Thomas Jefferson

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.

Thomas Jefferson

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Thomas Jefferson

To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.

Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:

'I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered..'

Excellent submission.

We could all learn a thing or two from our Fore-fathers.

Thanks!

Thomas Jefferson owned 100's of slaves and was a wineo.......

The size of the government is spiraling out of control and neither major political party seems capable of stopping it.

I think the government should raise taxes to match spending immediately and then maybe people wouldn't be so quick to turn a blind eye to new spending programs.

Maybe then more people would register as independent and cast their votes for the "stop-spending-our-money" party.

or the gov't could stop spending to keep spending in line with revenues. I'm on the same page, but wouldn't like huge tax increases.

Our (large) goverment can only take
advantage of us because WE keep letting them do so....Taxation without representation..Stop the cash cow now...Tax time is just around the corner...

Great post Pete. Unfortunately, there's too many people who want our government to regulate everything and "take care" of the needy. How about a hand up instead of a hand out? Workfare, not welfare. Oh wait, you're asking a bunch of lazy a** folks to actually DO something!

You can try to degrade the brilliance of Thomas Jefferson by pointing out that he was a slave owner and, as you say, a wino, but he deeply understood the mechanics of government.

The only problem with registering as an independent
(I was one) is you can't vote in primaries. I don't get THAT!

The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it always to be kept alive.

The will of the people is the only legitimate foundation of any government, and to protect its free expression should be our first object.

Thomas Jefferson was a great patriot. I also look too many of his quotes.
I only wish that our politicians today (Republican & Democrat) would live by the same standards.

Many of the signers to the constitution and preamble have given us great advice we should adhere to and be aware of in this day and age.

Great post! It is truly amazing that Mr. Jefferson was able to foresee all of this coming! I hope Nostradamous is not as accurate in 2012. ;/ Brad

It takes workers' money to keep the welfare people fat.

Thomas Jefferson was a wisdom far beyond the normal shade of genius.

Funny how our current government feels people akin to quoting things of this nature may actually be considered extremists.

Jefferson would be appalled at what we've become (or maybe he would just shrug knowingly). We should be a Government of, by and for the people... now we have a Government that owns the people.

It's corruption is without doubt.
Our charge is it's restoration.
The odds are against us.

""The only problem with registering as an independent

It's perfectly logical. The system was built for MANY parties to exist. It has devolved into two parties of supreme power!

If they let 'just anyone' in the primaries, they would quickly find it too easy for them to lose power. If you had a 3rd option, it wouldn't be so easy to make every argument about left vs right, black or white, with us or against us.

We might actually start thinking, exploring real debate and realizing there are always more than 2 options when facing the terrible and awesome problems we face in this century.

Watch the Presidential debates. You don't see too many 3rd party ppl in them anymore do you? Wonder why that is (because the networks have agreements w/ the (R) & (D)).

We must break up the ruling parties. Really, they barely vote outside of party lines anymore, it's a mockery of our democracy.

The established parties allow for much easier corruption and consolidation of power. You may say that if we replaced one or added a 3rd or 4th they would be corrupt, and I would agree.

But once the system is restored so that entities can be born (or die off), when parties can rise and fall as they used to, we will be taking large strides towards restoring our democracy and a REAL American way of life.

I see so many people complaining on here about people on welfare, and their tax dollars.

Have you ever actually stopped, and thought about where your tax dollars are really going?

I agree that we need many less lazy people mooching off the system, but lets not forget that our government blows our tax dollars in so many other wasteful ways.

Besides, if we continue to let people like Nancy Pelosi make laws, we'll all be on "workfare" with universal health coverage...or should I say, the good 'ole USA will be a damn Socialist State!

I'm just saying, maybe you all should start complaining about the things that are more easily changed, and more important.

Slave owner and wine-o? Well what are you, Mr. Finger-Pointer?! Doth such wisdom as Jefferson's drip from your lips? Nay. Just accusation and innuendo... as with most liberals who, rather than give way to Reason, choose to attack those with whom they disagree. Good Grief, recently I questioned the President's actions on a point and was duly accused of being a racist! I was floored! What was the strategy to shut me up when I questioned Bush or Clinton when they were in office? Addressing the issues, rather than attacking the opposition gets things done a lot quicker.

For starters military spending in the US is higher than the next highest 15 countries combined.

It isn't cheap to be the world police and we are hated for it.

Anonymous said...

We are told that world hates Americans..well why is that? It is because the people we vote into office travel the world and give the rest of us a bad name. I love our military but why we get involved in shit we are not asked to help in I'll never know.
Vote out every incumbent in every election for the next 20 years and maybe just maybe they will get the point. God I hate seeing this country go to hell. And believe me it is headed there fast. Hopefully they were right about 2012.
