Potter County Highway, Bridge Projects Approved

bridgeproject
On the heels of a busy 2009 construction season, Potter County officials report that even more highway and bridge projects are in the works for 2010 and beyond. Among those projects that are now being fast-tracked for work is the long-awaited replacement of the School Street bridge in the village of Genesee. Bids will be solicited no later than June and construction of a new bridge will get underway by fall. The project’s scope has been expanded to include radius improvements and property acquisition.

Potter County Planning Director Charlotte Dietrich recently met with Commissioners Doug Morley, Paul Heimel and Susan Kefover to review the latest developments with the regional Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP). A list of those highway and bridge projects scheduled for the next four years is available at the Potter County Planning Office in the Gunzburger Building. Among bridge replacement projects on the list are Seventh Street/Allegheny River in Coudersport, Rt. 872/Mill Creek in Ladona, and Rt. 872/Sinnemahoning Creek in Costello.

One project that was previously announced — establishment of separate turning lanes for traffic at the Rt. 6/Rt. 872 intersection in east Coudersport — has been cancelled, Dietrich said. Projects that are not listed on the regional TIP could still qualify for state and/or federal funding of up to 80 percent, she added, and townships or boroughs might also be eligible for low-interest loans to help cover their 20-percent share.

Funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act have allowed PennDOT to expand the number of highway and bridge projects on the TIP. Potter County Today

I was kinda of hoping the steel bridge on Honeoye Street would have been on the list.
It has been on the dangerous bridge list for quite awhile and the log trucks which cross it off and on and other large trucks don't help it alot.
