Reynolds A. Black, 81, of 1090 Old West Creek Rd., Emporium, PA died at Elk Regional Health Center, St. Marys, PA on Tuesday, (November 3, 2009) morning.

He was born Nov 20, 1927 in Croyland, PA a son of the late Reynolds A. and Etta Anna Leavitt Black.

In September 2002 he married Anna Christine Beck Black who survives.

Mr. Black's first wife, of over 53 years, whom he married Nov. 15, 1947 was Eleanor "Jean" Mathewson Black.

Rennie was a devoted husband, father, and a wonderful care-giver, coach, and mentor. He volunteered for 30 years with the Emporium Little League as a coach and umpire. He volunteered his time to the American Cancer Association and Salvation Army after his retirement. He was an avid outdoors man fishing and hunting in the area his entire life. He loved woodworking and was a craftsman. He will be forever in the hearts of his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. He graduated from Emporium High School in the class of 1947. He served with the US Navy, aboard the USS Spokane as a plankholder, during WW II.
During his Navy service he met Harry Truman.

He retired from Sylvania where he worked for over 43 years. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church. He was a member of & Post Commander of the American Legion Olkosky-Jessop Post 194, Emporium a member of the Tool & Die Makers Union.

Funeral and Committal Service will be held at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Saturday, (November 7, 2009) at 12:00 PM. A Military Service will be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail.

Visitation will be at the Barnett Funeral Home on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:45 AM.
Burial will be in the Newton Cemetery, Emporium, PA
