Zito Stringing Fiber Optic Lines In Warren County Loop

Cable rings could aid business and government

By DEAN WELLS dwells@timesobserver.com
Warren Times Observer

Six thin strands of glass bundled inside a cord approximately one inch thick. The strands as thick as human hair transmits laser light that can carry Internet signals, digital telephone conversations and virtual truckloads of data.

With the right electronics, you could transmit all the communication needs of an entire county through one strand of optical fiber. Hundreds of thousands of phone lines can be carried through a single strand.

A copper line ten times as thick can handle 100 telephone lines.

Coudersport's Zito Media Communications is on a mission to spread vast rings of fiber optic lines in Warren County, starting with a sprawling loop that will hook the area to a long haul pipeline. That loop, in turn, will be broken down into localized "metro" rings in the county's larger communities. More...

Go Zito!

I've dealt with a lot of providers in the past several years. Zito is way better service than what you get out of the comcasts/timewarners/etc. I think they have an opportunity to win over a very healthy (and loyal. local=loyal) customer base if they keep expanding.

Sure, Zito is stringing fiber optic everywhere but here around Coudy. How many HD channels do some of you have ? I have 4 but pay the same price for the box that those that get 20+ pay. And how about that Zito phone service? I keep having to have folks repeat things because it goes dead every second or so. That's why i keep my Verizon service. This outfit is a joke....poor TV service...poor repair service....poor phone service.

I dropped Zito because of price and lack of choice. I love my Direct TV and Verizon for internet access. Adelphia used to be good, but when Rigas lost the company and it became Zito, things went bad. I reccomend Direct TV and Verizon - it's all you need. As much as I'd like to support Zito because they are local, I don't see them 'giving' back to the community like Adelphia used to.

Anyone that thinks Zitomedia's service is above average must have been using rabbit ears for TV and two cups connected by a string for phone for the last 40 years. Zitomedia is a decent ISP but everything else they offer totally sucks....

I expect Verizon to expand DSL to our remote areas before that.

They are not your good neighbor type of service. Where ever they run these cables they look like crap. Besides that they don’t even have a right away. They say they do, but they don’t. They don’t even repair the damage they do to ones property either. Verizon dose a neat job and takes care of any problem they cause. If enough people in an area request the service Verizon will bring it in. Cost a lot less than Zito and you have professional people that know what they are doing. People in Warren County are in for a rude awaking!

Obviously someone does not know who owns Zito-brush yourself up on facts then post a comment!!!!!!

I agree. Zito doesn't know crap about the cable business and actually, Adlephia was getting that way too. Too interested in how many new customers that could rake in and not "taking care of business."
Direct TV is awesome and we haven't had ANY problems since we switched.
Before we switched, our cable, phone and TV were out of commission about every other week.

Satellite TV is much better quality than cable TV anyway. GO Directv! Leave cable in the dust.

Personally, my zito service has been GREAT. We had issues with the phone service when it was first installed. We called Zito, they came out and put something in the line down the road and it's been great ever since. Cable is good, internet is fast....and $20 a month vs $75 a month for telephone with Verizon is GREAT! Plus you are supporting a hometown business.

Zito Media sucks with customer service aand technical support, Directv sucks when it comes winter time, Dish Network sucks in the winter also. Time Warner sucks all the time, Comcast sucks too. There is not a good reliable and affordable cable or satelite provider ot there for our area. I have had the chance to try all these Companies and none of them are really worth anything whe it comes to the customer satisfaction. I do say my pick out of them all would be Dish Network though. Where I lived i had adequete signal all the time, just a few times in the winter when ice formed on the dish it would go out.
