PITT-BRADFORD OUTREACH TO OFFER SEMINARS ON HOT HUMAN RESOURCE AND EMPLOYMENT POLICY ISSUES FOR 2010

PITT-BRADFORD OUTREACH TO OFFER SEMINARS

BRADFORD, Pa. – University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Outreach Services will offer two seminars on “Hot Human Resources and Employment Policy Issues for 2010.”

The seminars will be offered from 8 a.m. to noon in Room 218 of the Frame-Westerberg Commons on Jan. 8 and 15. The first session will cover positive discipline, sexual harassment and the Employee Free Choice Act. The second session will deal with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Family Medical Leave Act and workers’ compensation.

Each session is $69 and includes a continental breakfast. Specifically designed for area chief executive officers, chief operating officers, chief financial officers, human resources management, senior management and business owners, the seminar is eligible for WEDnet reimbursement for first-level supervisors.

Outreach developed the seminars at the request of Harvey Golubock, president and chief operating officer of American Refining Group Inc.

“Legislative and regulatory changes are moving at an unprecedented pace, and, as business leaders, we need to keep abreast of these important issues,” Golubock said. “I thought our community business leaders would be interested in hearing about the changes and how they could affect their businesses.”

Ann R. Robinson, director of the Business Resource Center at Pitt-Bradford, said, “By hearing from an industry leader about specific workforce needs, Outreach Services was able to custom design a program to meet those needs. It’s a perfect example of how industry and training can work hand in hand to develop and sharpen the skills and knowledge of the region’s workforce.”

The seminar will be conducted by John B. Stevens of JB Stevens Organizational Solutions Inc. of Olean, N.Y. Stevens holds designations as a Senior Professional in Human Resources and Certified Performance Technologist.
