Frustrated as some have been over the slow development of the Marcellus in our region, watching what has happened in counties east and southwest of us has allowed us to learn what and how to "watch out" for possible problems. Members of groups that have formed for leasing purposes in this region have done so MORE to protect the environment by agreeing to leases written w/strong environmental protection clauses...NOT to be the first ones to the bank with a check! They realize many small businesses will thrive when gas/oil money comes to town. Even some big businesses may be enticed into area. But who knows what will happen if we don't try, if we don't go fishing with the best environmental clauses and fairest deals for all involved? Whether we're referring to rights holders or those without, this is a BIG picture happening.

You can put in all the regulation that you want, and "watch out" as much as you want.....it only take on major contamination leak to affect the water table of a town.
