Burglary In Ulysses Township
The Bailey Hill Lodge and Restaurant at 362 Bailey Hill Road in Ulysses Township was the victim of a burglary overnight on 12-30/31.

Unknown actor(s) entered the Lodge by forcing open a locked door. Once inside the building, the actor(s) were able to open two cash drawers and stole the cash in them.

Nothing else was reported stolen. State police did not disclose how much cash the burglars got.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PSP Coudersport at 814-274-8690. Trooper James Culvey is the investigating officer.

Not condoning this crime.
But why would any restaurant or establishment leave cash in a drawer overnight. Is this common practice. And for security reasons, this is a stupid question to ask but isn't it quite stupid
to leave cash lying around?

I think that any business owner would have to say that they do leave a certain amount of cash in any business. The article clearly says that a locked door was FORCED open and money was taken from inside a cash drawer. Not money that was just laying somewhere.

I understand the point of view that we all should take measures to avoid being a victim, however, I get frustrated with those who think that because a crime was committed against you, you should have some fault in that. Maybe in some cases yes, but when you lock your business and leave cash in a "cash drawer" what more could the owner do? Yes, 10:13 it is a stupid question that you asked!

They would leave the money there for the person opening up the next business day. A lot of places would leave maybe in the freeze and not in the cash drawer.

Here we go again. Why do some people blame the victim? I don't care if ya leave a business, house or car unlocked. The thief is still guilty for taking something that does not belong to them.

yea ,,, no one would think to look in the freezer lmao

You know that locked doors are only to keep the honest people OUT.

Anyone that enters any building that is not theirs, uninvited, door locked or unlocked is trespassing and or breaking and entering IF they know they are not welcome...NO ONE should be entering a business after hours if they are not the owner, PERIOD!

Why not install cameras or alarm system or both?

How about the cost of the systems you suggest. Profit margins are down, taxes, cost of supplies, electric, gas, insurance, and taxes are up. Start a businnes and see not all that goes in the register is profit.

Security systems are quite inexpensive...and usually save an equal amount off of your insurance.
Please..not that expensive.
