Austin should try starting some of the 11th and 12th grade players instead of freshman players and see what happens. It is hard for the kids to have any team spirit when they only have a few seconds to play. Give them all a chance you don't have anything to loose your not winning anyway.
They can only iearn if they play.

Good luck with your next game.

9:45 comment- I agree, they have one kid who can prolly reach the lite's on the ceiling & he sits most of the time & cheers on his teammates. Somethin wrong with that pic.(JEEP)!!

Boy Coudy Basketball sure isn't what it use to be....

Coaches rules if you don't practice you don't play and Jeep was out of town. And it shouldn't matter what grade you are in...you play by talent not by grades and that's been the problem for far to long with Austin on the girls and boys teams.

I believe the first 2 photos are JV basketball. The photographer said the last one was regular teams.

Austin will never change ! It depends on your name ! It's always been that way ! Always will be that way ! So sad !

The talent thing may be alright but the ones kept on the bench are not gaining any more talent if they don't play. Your coach needs to look at the whole picture instead of using his favorites.
You will end up with a better rounded team in the end. Win or loss they all at least get a chance to try.

I agree if they dont show up for practice they should not play, but I see players that are at all practices, and although they spend equal time at practice they get a lot less time playing in games. they try just as hard as the other players. I will give them this. They must be dedicated players.
I hope they stay that way. It will pay off someday. Keep trying boys your coach may see through the clouds somday.
GOOD LUCK

People come on, lets the coaches decide who plays and who doesnt. When we start to let every kid play and every kid make the team we are starting to coddle kids and turn them into babies. It wont kill them not to play or make the team.

must be your kid is one that plays all the time.

Unfortunately Austin doesn't have any Seniors playing this year. All players should be givn a fair share of play in Austin to keep their spirit up but that probly won't happen. Do your best boys and have fun.

Does Coudy play freshman and sophomores over their seniors?? Coudy plays the best people...and when the are crushing you by 30 they will still have their starters in.

I guess it is not about learning the game and sportsmanship but about how high you can get your point lead to. I am not saying that the other team should back down but if you are way ahead it would be a good time to let players that may not be as good play. They deserve a chance to be part of the win. They should not let up. The other team should earn a win not be givin the win.

For the Austin player be more positive a positive attitude is as important as ability. When you go out on the court look like you plan to win. A positive action is better than a negitive action any day. Just keep working at it you are just as good as anybody else playing the game. Your win is just around the corner. Good luck. and keep your spirits up.

Not every kid is a born athlete but may have the heart to go out for basketball and soccer. If you are a parent of one of those kids who gets on the team, practices their butt off, and you as a parent attends all the games in town and out of town, it is heartbreaking to see your kid sit the bench. I have been there. If these guys and girls don't get to play in real games, they don't get the confidence of playing and succeeding in the spotlight. Coaches, please let all the players play. Who knows, you may have the makings of a really great team player sitting there. And people are always saying, kids don't want to get into sports anymore....guess why....they know they won't see any play time. Sad.

I have attended a lot of games.
The coaches need to see that its not so much the player in the game as it is the game in the player. A lot of the kids that don,t play as much play just as hard. It could be that if they just got the time to improve it may get better. Experience is a good teacher. I give the kids that are not playing as much a lot of credit for sticking to it. They deserve a lot of credit for sticking to the game.
Continue to do so and stay positive your turn will come. Take that positive attitude with you. Keep working at it. It will pay off someday.

Well I tell my son who plays for a local school JV team this thought -- just think if you were in a bigger school system -- you wouldn't even get picked for a team if you went out for it as there is so much talent & competition in a bigger school system. So on a positive note for you & your sons or daughters -- at least they get to experience being on a team & occasionally getting to play. I am sure the kids feel bad enough -- we certainly do not need to rub their faces in the facts of life -- it is not fair & yes politics come into play more often than not. Encourage your kids, they are getting exercise & being on a team sport "usually" keeps them out of trouble. There is always something to be thankful for! Sometimes we as parents try to live our lives too vicariously thru our children. If they are fine with things you should be too.

Sorry if you thought i was giving the kids a hard time I was not. I think they are a great bunch of kids. They should be proud of what they are doing. Like you said they are a part of the team.

Good luck Austin with your game today.
