Leah B. Witt of 306 Emerald Isle, Smethport, PA

SMETHPORT, PA - Leah B. Witt of 306 Emerald Isle, Smethport, a former resident of Fillmore, NY, died Sunday (Jan. 3, 2010) at Bradford Regional Medical Center.

Born Feb. 3, 1934, in Freedom, NY, she was a daughter of Arthur and Clara Sherwood Burrows. On Oct. 7, 1948, she married Clayton F. Witt, who predeceased her Sept. 21, 1991.

Mrs. Witt was a homemaker and dairy farmer. She also worked at Robeson Appliances in Castile, NY from 1976 through 1987.

She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and watching TV.

Surviving are her children, Albert (Cheryl) Witt of Scio, NY, Clayton (June) Witt and Sylvia (Dean) Green, both of Hume, NY, Daniel Witt of Smethport, Sandra (Michael) Piraino of Colorado Springs, CO, and David (Becky) Witt of Turtlepoint, PA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several brothers and sisters, among them, Betty Collins of Olean, NY; and several nieces and nephews
.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and William Burrows; and a sister, Barbara Burrows.

Family and friends gathered at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N. Genesee St., Fillmore, NY, on Thursday (Jan. 7, 2010) from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time funeral services were held. Pastor Tony Edgell of the Turtlepoint Evangelical Church officiated.
Burial was in Freedom Cemetery.
