Betty B. Wolcott, 94 of Derrick City, PA

Betty B. Wolcott, 94 of Derrick City, passed away, Friday, February 5, 2010, at the Bradford Manor.

Born on June 22, 1915, in Buffalo, NY, she a daughter of the late John C. and Jane (Campbell) Bowery.

Mrs. Wolcott was a graduate of Amherst Central High School, and a graduate of the State Teachers College @ Buffalo, Buffalo, NY. She was a member of the Kappa Delta Pi Sorority and Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority.

She began her teaching career in Eggertsville, NY, where she taught for eight years. She moved to Bradford and continued her teaching career, teaching 2nd grade at the Lincoln Elementary School until her retirement.

On December 31 1943 in Columbia, SC she married Norman R. Wolcott Jr. who died June 24, 2008. They had been married for 64 years at the time of her husband's death.

She was a member of the Hill Memorial United Methodist Church, the Derrick City Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #61, Orakettes of the Orak Gratto, and Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a former member of the Derrick City United Methodist Church, and the Derrick City PTA.

Mrs. Wolcott volunteered for many years at the Bradford Regional Medical Center and served on the Board for the Bradford Hospital Auxiliary.

Surviving are her three children: twin sons, Norman R. (Judy) Wolcott III, of Gasport NY, and Nordal J.(Linda) Wolcott, of Tinley Park IL, one daughter, Nancy W. (Steve) Vreeland, of Visalia CA., six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and another great grandchild due in August, and one sister Marjorie (John) Hill, of Newark DE.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother John C. (Doris) Bowery of Monroe WA, two sisters: Gloria (Robert) Martin of Grand Rapids, MI, and Barbara Bowery of Buffalo, NY.

Friends will be invited to attend a Memorial Service at the Hill Memorial United Methodist Church to be held in the spring. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc,.
