No big deal, it's just a couple of rednecks who don't see eye to eye.

why did we have to have police come in from as far as portville when we have a police chief in shinglehouse, whom, by the way, had to be called at his house to let him know that tioga was calling for him regaurding this incident? when is the borough of shinglehouse going to wake up and realize that we are paying for a service that we arent getting.

they do catch speeders by the school pretty good though.

Anonymous said...

Actually Brad was the first person there and he arrested the guy. He came out even though he wasn't on duty. Cut him some slack, would you go to work when you're not scheduled to be there?

Anonymous said...

Tioga has home numbers to some Officers usually for matters like this. When the Chief is not working that's how they get a hold of him. As for the Portville Officer responding when a call of that nature comes acrossed anyone and everyone heads in that direction...

When enough people complain, fill the boro's mettings and ring their phone off the hook, that's when change happens.

Blog Posts don't count.

looks like this jerk from nyc may be going back there on rail

How many policemen do you have over there? if only 1 or 2, they can't be on duty 24-7.

Anonymous said...

i have seen people fly through the school zone when the lights are flashing and can tell you that we are rarely graced by the police chiefs presence. and recently there was an issue where one of the officers pulled over the mayors friend and got reprimanded for it as they are on the list of people that arent supposed to be pulled over. when will it all end?

9:34, get over whatever it is you got against the Chief. He does a decent job. Think back to a few other Chiefs that town has had in the past. Now where does Brad stand in that line?
Thought so.

... back to the article..
I want names! Who was it? that crazy dude on the other side of the bridge? ;)

people complain when the boro police don't do enough yet they complain when they are pulling people over left and right. you can't make people happy no matter what you do! Brad does his best....I'd like to see how other people would handle being called and bothered at all hours of the day and night whether on duty or off!

Wow, such finger pointing complainers that can't sign their name. Not the people that I would want to listen to. Probably the same ones complaining about judges, state troopers, firemen and yes local police. Respect the law and you may get respect. Cheryl Bryant

... ride with a cop/sherrif/policeperson for one shiftthen judge

If he can't " HANDLE " people bothering him at all hours of the day or night then maybe he shouldn't be the " CHEIF ". That's what he gets paid to do, and that's what our tax dollars go toward. If he can't handle that then the BORO along with our MAYOR ( who could also do some work ) needs to find someone who will actually do the job ! As far as anyone being pulled over... I can't recall when the last time i saw or heard anything from 48:20 on the scanner ! That requires getting out of the car and God forbid paper work that no one wants to do. How do these people keep their jobs ?!?!

Anonymous said...

Maybe you should get a job and you wouldn't have so much time to set by the Scanner and wonder what other people are doing.!!

To the previous comments, I just had a great idea. When the election for Mayor comes up, hey, let's see your name on the ballot. You seem to have the answers, so, this would be your chance to "right our wrongs".

Sharon, even though I'm not from that area, I agree with ya 100% !!! " You Go Girl ! "

sorry but i wont post my name as i am not on the "list" of protected people in shinglehouse. and furthermore, i dont have a problem with the judge, i love the state troopers (they do their jobs) and the firemen are angels in disguise. i have a problem with forking over tax dollars that pay for him to sit at home and do nothing about things that are reported to him. and i also think that if he is too busy to be bothered at home then he should give up his position as chief, as, that i am pretty sure is in his job description. as far as being on the ballot....i would love to so that i could put my friends on the "list". where do i sign up?

You wanna know the best thing about anonymity doesnt give people on here fuel for fire to try and show off there stature in a community. And the ones that do seem to have a point there trying to make. In my OPINION these are the ones either protected because they are on the list or are close personal friends with nothing to worry about. I think its more threatening to people when they can't talk about you behind your back when they don't know who you are. Just a thought.

Satan said...

Check out those you see in public. Then look around and see if they're being giggled and chuckled at. Those are the protected ones.

Shame on you if you have to ask where to sign up......there's some dead brain cells. It's easy to blame for your ill fortunes. Problem with the world, no one will take responsibilty for their own life. Blame someone else just doesn't cut it in the real world. Sit on your butt and see how far you get...Not far at all. There are go getters and then there are the ones that want for free.

Anonymous said...

Let me see...rolling stop at a stop sign, ticket. Expired registration, ticket. Guess what I didn't blame the cop...the law is the law. Get a life for the ones that feel they are not the chosen few.

poster 1:38...you are wrong with this statement "Blame someone else just doesn't cut it in the real world. Sit on your butt and see how far you get...Not far at all."

What do you think our members of congress do? The 2 majority parties are blaming each other for crap that has happened years ago.....they sit on their butts and are running our country. What have you done for your country besides breath the free air???

As always...lots of opinions...but only a few people with a "set" to put their name on here! I'm proud to say that I think Brad does a fine job here. What have YOU done to make this town a better place? Listen to the scanner? Really? And as far as taxes go...I would bet some of you don't even pay taxes! Heidi Turk

"And as far as taxes go...I would bet some of you don't even pay taxes!"

How many of you have mowed a lawn, shoveled snow, raked leaves, had a yard/garage sale, or even sold on ebay? How many of you have a small job "on the side"?

There is a spot on your Federal Income Tax for this. It's called misc. income.

I'm confused! How did the posts get from wanting to know who was involved to Brad being a no good Chief? Point is, this crazy guy was taken down and off the streets. That's what is important, right?

Anonymous said...

Yeah I was the one who wanted more info ON THIS INCIDENT not rip on Brad. I Think Brad does a great job period.

I would just like to respond to some of the comments about # 1 Brad was out on the call when 911 was trying to get ahold of him, he was trying to find a solution to the issue. # 2 No one knows how hard Brad works but me. #3 We have a police line and a station as far as people coming to our house 24-7 yes believe me it is unreal, people sit in my driveway beeping their horn like it's a drive-thru,pounding on my door all hours of the night screaming. Brad never complains about people coming to our home but please remember he does have a family and does deserve to have a life. Brad works all hours of the night and on occassion has worked all day and all night. How about when his family has to go stay somewhere because someone is threatening him, maybe think about that for a minute.Brad doesn't sleep if he knows something serious is going on in town . Brad cares about the people in this town especially the kids. There is no safe list, in my opinion your a coward for not signing your name. By the way even if I wasn't married to him I would still think he does a stand up job . Everyone can complain but until it's your job you have no idea what it's like.
Thank You,
Denise Buchholz

Question: Do the workers at McDonald's sit by their phones incase someone gets the munchies in the middle of the night?

Question: Do the school teachers sit by their phones incase a student needs help with their homework?

Makes just as much sense as bitching about the local Shinglehouse Police force.

Good job Denise you tell them them the way it is I feel for you have to read this crap people write on here....well i no longer live in town But i can honestly say when i lived in town Brad was always right there if I needed something(no I am not on any safe list) I remeber one night he was not on Duty he was Bowling and he heard something was going on he left went home suited up and came to my aid...NOt living in town and we needed police and he was the first one to respond..Thank you Brad for all you do....You fill the shoes in a great way....Take care and protect your family they come first. You do a great Job !!!!!!!

Denise....well said! Brad does do his job. I would not want his job and all the responsibilities that go with it. People just like to complain... Kathy & Dave Garrity

the guy does his job. when your a cop the family gets involved with cop work MOST of the time. thats a lot of crap to deal with. he got the nut off the streets. he is not required to work 24/7 or be everywhere 24/7. if you had a police for working 24/7 your taxes would go up. and there would be crying about that. good job brad.
and put some skirting on the house instead of the hay next year ;)

Well put, Denise. Your husband does care for the community and the children in it. It is obvious by all the extra work he does on their behalf. People should not judge unless they have walked a mile in his shoes. The bottom line in this case is that a dangerous situation was taken care of. Shinglehouse is still a wonderful place to live.
