Jeezzz...Cant even be a kid anymore. Shooting into brush! Be thankful you have such a problem. In Philly, 11 year olds shoot 9MM's into people.

You've got to be kidding!

We should lock this hooligan up and throw away the key! Why was he damaging that brush pile so? Seriously, an 11 year old shooting a BB gun in the woods is disorderly conduct? No wonder my taxes are out of control! Some people seem to forget what it's like to be young. Calling the state police, seriously ridiculous!

Just one more reason why you all need to get rid of your guns.

Yep, bb guns are very scary! SOunds like the neighbors just want to complain about something. Give me a break.

My daddy tought me two things in life, how to shoot a gun and how to use a knife. Thats the way it is back in the woods! Some people can't except that. So....... move back where ya came from.

WOW! HOW DID WE GET THIS MESSED UP?

Either this kid must be on Welfare, or he is Iranian for them to be throwing sanctions at him. This is the 1st steps of Government Revolution. lol.. Seriously I thought criminals were arrested, not sanctioned. This kid is not a Terrorist so why treat him like one?

This has got to be a bad joke. If he was shooting into a brush pile and not at someone, or at property
I see no reason to have him charged with anything. when I was a his age I walked the woods with my BB gun and learned much about wildlife, the woods, and life in general. He was getting a good walk and not sitting in front of a TV playing video games eating junk food. Was he on someones elses property without permission, if not why is he being charged for being a kid. I hope this young mans parents get a good lawyer. Maybe we all should chip in for legal fees.

This is ridiculous. I hope the person who complained gets shunned by their neighbors. Tell them if they don't like country rules move back to the city.

this is so crazy is there no limits here.soon the government will be raising all are children in hospitals and teaching them to be city boys how sad government does not respect are way of life thought this was the home of the free where we have a right to bare arms even if we are 11 what a joke

i WISH TO JOIN THE CHORUS OF BOOS ON THIS ONE. iF HE USED BAD JUDGMENT BY HAVING DISRUPTED A HOME OWNER, IF ANYTHING, ITSHOUDL HAVE BEEN A TEACHING MOMENT. IS NOT CHILDHOOD WHERE WE LEARN WHAT IS APPROPRIATE AND WHAT IS NOT? fORMAL CHARGES, THAT'S CRAZY!

DEPENDING on the background of the kid (after all we seem to be jumping to conclusions) he may be up to no good. Check the other articles on this site. Maybe the child molester was just "checking out" the lil girl a few years ago and someone said "awwww give the guy a break", now look what has happened.

There are TWO SIDES to EVERY story.

Why not just tar and feather these kids? To be a kid again!!!

"State Police are handling a Disorderly Conduct charge administratively"
I believe this means the kid got a break. Charges were not filed with the district judge, which means no fines. The police probably thought the report was as ridiculous as it sounds, which is why they handled it the way they did. They basically warned the kid and kept the person, who probably demanded that action be taken against this hardened criminal, happy by "charging" him with disorderly conduct.
I think that is what "administratively" means.

The cops have to get promoted somehow! More arrests = more promotions!

There are rules for discharging of a BB gun and an age limit for carrying one. Why you say; because a little boy got his eye shot out and had to go through life with just one eye to see by. That is why we have these rules. Oh and it could be your child that looses an eye the next time around, but that would be alright with you as the boy that did it was just being a kid.

"shooting a BB Gun into brush covered private property"

NOT public land or state game land, it was PRIVATE PROPERTY. What if he (or anyone else) was on YOUR PRIVATE PROPERTY shooting?

kids will be kids, give him a break
he wasnt shooting at any other kids or adults come on people let get the drug dealers, there the ones that need to be delt with.

I always try to keep my eyes out of brush piles. private property? go back to where you came from. I would rather put up with 50 eleven year olds than one of you.

9:46... What if he was on my property shooting his BB gun?

I'd probably ask him what he was shooting at and tell him to be on his way. If I was REALLY upset I'd probably extend the small town courtesy to call his father on the phone and tell him I didn't appreciate what his boy was doing. That would probably be a harsher lesson.

And to call the police?! What a waste of emergency services. The complainer should be embarrassed.

What the heck are you thinking?!

Why wasn't the kid shooting the BB gun into his OWN property?

Anonymous said...

Maybe the kid thought he saw "Bad Bart" lurking in the brush pile and thought he would be a hero for ridding the world of this ruthless outlaw.

Did anyone read this entire article? It was only one sentence. Private property and annoyed nearby residents. Let me interpret this for you; he should have been shooting his gun on his parent’s property. If the land owner asked him to quit shooting on his property, he should have had respect for the owner of that land and not have been an ANNOYING nuisance.

Why does the residents of Potter County think that raising disrespectful children is Good Parenting?

Has something happened to the small town friendliness up there since I moved to the city 15 years ago? I was a bb gun toting 11 yr old in Potter County and got into my fair share of trouble including accidentally shooting the side window out of my neighbor's game commission Bronco. In my town, everyone new everyone and all of our families went back decades. I can't imagine a single instance where one of my neighbor's would have called the police. They may have grabbed me by my collar and dragged me home but that's how it should be. This article along with the hundreds of others on the site of people just trashing each other really makes me wonder what happened up there. Many of you bash the city but small town hospitality is supposed to be what you are about. What the h%ll is going on?

We're mad as hell and still resentfull of the Adelphia demise, government coverup of the ression, greed of others willing to sacrafice our land for a few dollars, and lack of respect for others property.

10:07AM;
What you did as a kid with a BB gun was most likely one of the reasons a law was made on the use of , when, where and what age of the BB gun.
Stay where you are…

Well 12:18, I suggest you get over it because you can't stop any of those things from happening now. You make it sound like you are on the verge of civil war up there. I suggest everyone just relax, mind your own business, and find ways to better your own life and stop worrying about what everyone else is doing. Being "mad as hell" all the time is an awful way to live and if you read every comment ever written on this blog and had to sum them all up into one word it would be "angry."

Wow!
A kid shooting at a brush pile in Potter County.
I am glad to see that you adults were able to handle this horrible child desperado!
You may have stopped him from obtaining weapons of mass destruction in the future.
Careful..He will shoot your eye out!
