Edith A. Barker, 82, of Ulysses, PA

Edith A. Barker, 82, of Ulysses, PA, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010 in the Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, PA.

Born February 5, 1928, in Watsontown, PA, she was the daughter of John J. and Maude Butler Ahearn. On November 17, 1948, in Coudersport, she married Charles R. Barker, who survives.

She was employed as a cook with the Northern Potter School District and as a nurse's aide at Cole Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. Bibiana Catholic Church in Galeton.

Surviving besides her husband, Charles, are: five sons, Reuben E. (Joanne Gielow) Barker of Buffalo, NY, Roger (Jeanette) Barker of Ulysses, Ronald (Diane) Barker of Manassas, VA, Russell (Cheryl) Barker of Inwood, WV, and Richard (Karmen) Barker of Genesee; two daughters, Rebecca (Bruce) Lundy and Robin (Dan) Baker, both of Ulysses; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Paul (Delores) Ahearn and John "Buzz" Ahearn, both of Coudersport, and Jim (Louise) Ahearn of Rexville, NY; four sisters, Kay (Ray Goers) Johnson of Sebring, FL, Mary (Doug) Seymour of North Springfield, VT, Jennie (Danny) Sebring of Elkland, PA, and Irene Stevens of Colesburg, PA; and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by an infant son, David Barker; and two brothers, Michael Ahearn and Timothy Ahearn.

Friends may call at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA on Thursday, March 11, 2010 from 2:00 -- 4:00 and 7:00 -- 9:00 PM and on Friday from 9:00 -- 10:00 AM at St. Bibiana Church, Galeton, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 AM. The Rev. Joseph Dougherty will be the Celebrant. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery. A Vigil Service will be held 8:30 PM Thursday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tri-Town Volunteer Ambulance Association, Ulysses, PA 16948 or St. Bibiana Church, Galeton, PA 16922.
