Structure Fire On River Street In Roulette Caused By Electrical Fault

Working Structure Fire In Roulette Deemed Accidental By Fire Marshal
Updated 7:27 pm Sunday
At 11:26 pm on Saturday night, a working structure fire was reported in a house at 6 River Street Extension in the Village of Roulette owned by Gary R. Fessenden of Roulette.

After Roulette firefighters knocked down the fire inside with a handline, the smoky fire that was left burning seemed to be concentrated in the outside wall.

Port Allegany Station 3 was called to the scene for mutual aid and assisted Roulette in tearing off the exterior siding to get at the fire in the wall. It appears to have been stopped with minimal fire damage, but smoke damage throughout the structure.

At 12:11 am the fire appeared to be under control. The fire was declared out at 12:51 am.

Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal David A. Surra and Roulette Chemical Engine Company No. 1 Fire Chiefs investigated and determined that the fire, was caused by an electrical fault at an outlet box inside the wall.

The fire was contained by suppression efforts to a small portion of the outside wall of the structure. Damages were estimated at $8,000.00

Yes there are images in the windows, it is our firefighters who were attacking the fire from the inside of the house.

Again it is a good thing that this fire wasnt in Coudersport... Chief Willy Wonka and the "Chocolate" factory would have had a cow that someone was showing the public what we do on scene, something that is not really viewed by the public... But higher up in Coudersport have made threats to break personal cell phone and file lawsuits if someone in "THEIR" Dept did this same thing...

Good Job to the 46 and 3 crews... you guys rock...

10:29! You need to get a few priorities straight!

"What we do on scene" Take pride in your work and keep the private stuff PRIVATE!

I've come to the conclusion that our local fire depts./volunteers are their own worst enemies!

Either you've forgotten why you do the job you do or you are on a mission to discredit every hard working person that has dedicated their time to helping others!

I for one find it very sad at what Coudersport fire company has become. They use to show so much pride in their company. and I always thought worked well with the other companies too. and over the last few years things seem to have gone down hill for them. There is no pride anymore. and if you dare show it or post about it. YOU will then be reprimanded for it. I find that to be sad. I think the Chief does the best job he can. but is lead by his always there sidekick. and I don't think SHE has what's best for others or their company in mind. she likes some, and she dislikes some, and it shows in more ways then one. I really do think they have some great firefighters that are their to do a job and fight fire. but really does it hurt if they take pictures and show pride? as long as they are done tactfully and they put no one in harms way. I think its a great thing.
And I hope no matter what is said you will all continue to show your pride for the company you represent.
God Bless

Why the hell are you guys bashing Coudersport in this blog? They were not on scene at this fire and had nothing to do with it. There must be a more constructive way to get your point across without utilizing every post involving a fire to get your jabs in. Maybe if you email Jim at shurfine40@gmail.com with your legitimate and substantiated points of contention, he would be willing to post an article to that effect and allow people to post their opinions on said content.
The posts here should be commending Roulette and Port Allegany on their response time and their ability to keep this fire, that could have potentially been a total loss of this structure, to a fire that was limited to a minimal amount of the house and making it something that the owner should be able to fix rather than to completely rebuild. There was absolutely nothing done here that should be construed as contrive or malicious in any manner. The video appears to have been shot from a non-responder from a safe distance and nothing more than what Joe Public could have witnessed for himself from the front door of the Friendly Inn.

GREAT JOB RVFD... Kudos to you and all that you do...

Good job Dept 46!

I am pleased to read here that CVFD recognizes there are higher priorities and a greater mission than taking photographs of emergencies to satisfy the rubber-neckers and pump up their own egos.

It's pathetic that one of the assistantce hears that the cheif is out of town visiting his son (hom is actually doing something with his life!) and they dont have any balls to post their names on here. lets give roulette and port thanks for the save and good job and lets leave the running down else where!

I happen to find it rude and ignorant for someone to refer to a chief as Willy Wonka. I am sick of all the bashing of Coudersport Volunteer Fire Department. They weren't even called out for this call as a matter of fact so why are they even being discussed. Why can't we as citizens and fellow firefighters have a positiveness towards one another instead of all this negativity. I'm sure the willy wonka comment came from someone from inside there own fire department. That is ridiculous remember what you are there to do. Protect the community and save lives. The egos need to stay out of the job. Volunteer don't show up if this is what it is going to amount to bashing each other behind one anothers backs. I never quite understood the reasoning behind taking photos. I mean I wouldn't want to findout that a family member was dead by seeing a picture of there vehicle. I wouldn't want to find out that my house burnt down by seeing a photo on the internet. I think this is why the comment was stated that people didnt want to see phones on scene. I wouldn't know cause I'm not a member so obviously the person who posted that and the willy wonka comment is on the inside. That person should really take it to there meeting or call the person and discuss there issue rather than talk about it on here and start drama.

CVFD does not even make candy!?!?!?! why the willy wonka comment!!! thats rude

Whatever has happened to all of you? What happened to the feelings we all had after 9/11? We all had such a closeness, taking care of our little part of the world and caring about each other, after seeing how quickly such an unbelieveable tragedy could happen. Stop bashing EVERYTHING that doesn't suit you. The volunteer firemen are putting their lives on the line every time they respond to a call. If some have big egos, well, there are people who aren't volunteers who also have big egos, too. We can't all be perfect. Just be grateful that they are out there, and willing to help you in your time of need, should such a thing arise.
Makes me not want to volunteer for anything, the way people are so quick to come on here and write such cruel words. Would you, if given the opportunity, actually say these things to one of those fireman? Someone who has just spent time doing his/her all to help save a home?
The bashing will never stop, I know. Try and be a volunteer. Your world will never be the same. As soon as you realize you had a part in saving a home, a person; or took the time to help build a home for someone, or to lend any kind of helping hand at all, your attitude just might change. You've made a difference for someone.
Try it. Just once.

These people a volunteers (as in not getting paid and this isn't a job). Each and every time they go out on a call, we should be thanking GOD for these men and women. What if the firemen and women or the ambulance and medic personnel one day decided not to respond to an emergency? These people give up whatever they may be doing to help and save.

Jermey C and Bryan P dont be mad because you took a piece of fire apperatus to the fire district line and sit there and didnt get called..... sad sad little fire company.... and on another note good job 46 and station 3... no one wants a bunch of non complian firefighters on the fire ground.

So Folks lets not refer to this as the CVFD lets refer to it as the jermey and bryan show...

Firt off Very Nice Job Roulette & Port. O.k poster 9:34 you are obviously a memeber of CVFD. and if I am reading this right you are criticizing some of your own crew for being there and being ready to help out your neighboring town fight a house fire if needed?? I guess I'm not understanding why you would criticize someone so willing to go help out. and from what I heard there was more then just Jeremy & Bryan, I heard Timeka and Heidi both showed up to go on the call and help out. way to go girls! as well as other's. I think your problem isn't with the fire dept. I think your problem is a personal one with Jeremy and/or Brian. for one reason or another. really I have no Idea. but I do have to wonder what the real problem/reason is when you are criticizing 2 or more fire fighters for being ready to lend a helping hand whenever needed. that's pretty much one of the oddest thing I have read. I think maybe the problem is called jealousy.

Please, Roulette, you did a wonderful job! Coudersport, take your fight somewhere else! To blame one person never solves anything. Perhaps its time to back up, take a good look at yourselves, and remember why you volunteer. If its for your community thats great.

Roulette Thanks for the save. I am a member of 2 Fire companies. 1 happens to be Coudersport. I am on the road working and joined the volunteer fire dept in the area I work. I saw this yesterday and I had to sleep on it. First of all to even go out on a call we need a level of training that most people will never have. Remember we are volunteers. If it was your house on fire or your loved one in an accident I am sure you would be the first one to call for help. It was the CVFD who stood beside me for the last 5 years while my son was in Iraq and thru his buriel. Remember.CVFD..... My heart hurts everyday. I am proud to be a volunteer to give back to my communities something that my son gave to the whole nation. Life is like a box of chocolates you never know what you are going to get. Lets see the one who posted about willy wonka get out there take the training step up to the plate and make a difference in the community. We all live by a code. Serve and protect. You protect your family we protect you simple. We volunteer because we want to be a part of something greater than our pathetic selves. I challenge you as JFK said, Ask not what your county can do for you ask what you can do for your country. This is read all over, not just in your part of the county. If I wanted to hire you for a real job I would think twice because of your attitude. It doesn't belong in the work place. Jobs are to hard to find. You have a National Hero who gave his life so you can bash others. Good luck with that. I am saddend by the bashing of each other. Isn't there enough sadness in the world without bashing each other. Sorry Roulette that this has turned into a bashing party by 1 or 2 people. It is a small community that must help one another. You think a distaster can't happen in our county. We all need to be alert. For those of you around the country who are reading this just let me say we have highly trained and capable men and women who everyday put their life on the line to protect you from your disaster. Don't forget them and don't forget our wounded and departed soldiers. If you are that angry that you need to vent here try other blogs with like minded people who are bashing others. This is not the time nor the place. People's lives depend on the CVFD. If it was someone in the CVFD if you have nothing better to do I am sure we could find something constructive for you.
I am not ashamed to be part of my community. Are you????
