Schools, hospitals and businesses in rural parts of Trumbull and Mercer counties stand to receive enhanced access to the Internet thanks to a federally funded project.

Nearly 350 miles of fiber-optic cable will be installed in six counties in Northeast Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania by Zito Media Communications of Coudersport, Pa.

The U.S. Department of Commerce this week awarded $6.1 million in stimulus funds for construction of the system that will be in Trumbull, Geauga and Ashtabula counties in Ohio and Mercer, Crawford and Erie counties in Pennsylvania. Zito will kick in $1.5 million. More...

They are willing to expand their service but still will not put fiber optics from Port Allegany to Emporium on State Route 155. Sad part is both towns house Local Offices for Zito Media, and they wont give people the opportunity in between to have their service.

Ring Zito's phones off the hook and send in written, signed petitions.

They probably cannot run cable there, because most everything outside of Coudersport is now owned by Time Warner. Did you ever bother to find that out?? Don't be so ignorant in your comments until you have facts.

I see no ignorance in my post, however I do see ignorance in yours for even claiming I was being ignorant. I was claiming the reality of the situation. Oh and heres a lil information on Telecommunications. No matter if Time Warner, Zito Media, Verizon or whoever owns it the Government has what is called a Telecommunications Act which allows every telecommunication to sell or share lines, allowing for customers to pick what service they want. If you read more into it you will find this information, and find the facts on telecommunications. So before you post your ignorance to me you find out the facts. Thank You Have a Nice Day.

Go Satellite internet & TV. Much better quality. Verizon does not care about rural areas. Leave cable in the dust!

"Verizon does not care about rural areas" is absolutely correct...Verizon isn't building FIOS to rural areas, nor do they provide DSL to rural areas!!

How sad it is that people in this area go without Cable or High Speed Internet and they are going out of the State.I think it's more greed then anything .I was told by Cable they will never install Cable down the rest of Rt.872.You would think they could at least go to the County Lines After all were part of Potter County!
