Glenn R. “Bud” Harvey, 83, of Sweden Valley, PA

Glenn R. “Bud” Harvey, 83, of Sweden Valley, PA died Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at his home following a brief illness.

Born on May 26, 1926 in Coneville, PA he was the son of Glenn W. and Bessie Jane Bickford Harvey. He was first married to Cecile Louise Emerson, who died on April 29, 1961. On January 25, 1964 in Prouty, he married Virginia M. Watson who died on February 21, 2010.

Mr. Harvey was a graduate of Coudersport High School. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the U. S. Army. He had worked with the Brownhill and Kramer Hosiery Mill in Coudersport and retired in 1989 as a machinist with Pure Carbon Company.

Mr. Harvey was a member of the Sweden Valley Faith Community United Methodist Church, American Legion Potter Post 192, Eulalia Lodge #342 F. & A.M., the Coudersport Consistory, and the Central Grange #1216 of Sweden Valley. He liked woodworking, hunting, gardening, and especially enjoyed his kids and grandkids.

Surviving are three daughters, Daisy T. (Vern) Bova, Susan T. (Walter) Stilson, and Barbara R. (Todd) Creech, all of Coudersport, one son, James R. (Patricia) Harvey of Coudersport, son-in-law, Russell Smith of Erie, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, two daughters, Kimberly Ann Harvey and Candy Harvey Smith, a grandson, John Evon Stilson, and two brothers, Mark Harvey and William Harvey and two sisters, Agnes Barton and Geraldine Baker.

Friends may call from 2-4pm and 6-8pm Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the Fickinger Funeral Home, Coudersport. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday at Sweden Valley Faith Community United Methodist Church with the Reverend Thomas Shatto, pastor, officiating. Military rites will be accorded by members of the Potter County Honor Guard. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Sweden Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Potter County Hospice, 1001 E. Second Street, Coudersport, PA 16915 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
