Rep. Causer Applauds Rejection Of I-80 Tolling

Causer Says Rejection of I-80 Tolling Application Was Right Decision

HARRISBURG - The Federal Highway Administration made the right decision when it chose to reject the state's application to toll Interstate 80, Rep. Martin Causer (R-Turtlepoint) said today.

"The idea of using the revenue generated from tolling I-80 to fund transportation projects and mass transit in other parts of the state never did make sense," Causer said. "I am not at all surprised federal officials rejected it.

"If tolling had been approved, it would have imposed an unfair burden on individuals and businesses all along the I-80 corridor. I believe rural Pennsylvania is already shortchanged on the amount of road and bridge funds it receives.

"While I believe today's decision is the right one, it also means lawmakers and the administration must go back to the drawing board to find a way to fund the many road and bridge repairs needed in our region and across the state. With state revenues coming up $720 million short so far this fiscal year, this will prove to be a significant challenge."

12:36 if you think the money from tolling I-80 would have went towards repair of roads and bridges your dillusional. Fast Eddie would have found some way to funnel this money into Phillidelphia.

I think that it is high time we tax payers in Pa. found out just where the tax money from gas and what ever taxes the truckers are paying ( which amounts to thousands -just ask them )is going. I think that some bodies pockets get lined down there in Harrisburg. Those taxes are suppose to be fixing ALL ROADS and BRIDGES in Pa not just a few when they want to. Also THERE ARE ROADS AND BRIDGES up here in northern Pa. It is just disgusting trying to keep your car on the road in some places due to road conditions and not to mention the repairs due to rough roads. I don't see any thing better in the near future either with these big gas rigs and heavy equipment going back and forth. I'll bet if "Fast Eddie" lived up here or had to travel our main roads he might do something about them. Wants more money ? Well guess again- Deal with the money you have WE ARE BROKE!!!

I am not saying that the I80 tolling idea is good or bad but I get a kick out of this Causer guy. Just like a politician he jumps on a cause that resonates with the voters but he never comes up with any plans of his own to address a problem. What is his plan to get the funds needed to fix the roads and bridges? He will say stuff like "go back to the drawing board" because when you are at the drawing board you are not getting anything accomplished that might upset the folks back home even if it is the right thing to do. At least Just Plain Joe Scarnati has been honest about this issue of tolls and has said if you are against I80 tolls to get the money to fix our bridges and roads then what are you FOR? Causer just goes along to get along on bell ringers like tax cuts, gun control, honor our vets, no I80 tolls, etc., but never any original thinking to address our problems. It's all just a show folks to get you to keep voting for him while our state government keeps growing more and more useless due to such wimpy attitudes.

Just Plain Joe Scarnati is your hero?
You need to get a life pal.

I did not read anything from 9:31 to suggest Senator Scarnati was his hero. Did you?
