Violet M. ABBEY, 76, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Westfield and Harrison Valley, PA

Violet M. ABBEY, 76, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Westfield and Harrison Valley, PA, died Monday, April 26, 2010 in her home.

Born March 21, 1934, in Tyler, PA, she was the daughter of Meldon C. and Hannah A. Lewis Dean. On February 2, 1980, in Painted Post, NY, she married Hugh J. Abbey, who predeceased her in 1987.

She was employed at the Westfield Garment Factory and as a cook at area restaurants.

Surviving are: five sons, Ronald (Cathy) Miller of Harrison Valley, PA, Rodney (Kim Bogle) Miller of Westfield, PA, Kevin (Debbie) Miller of Gold, PA, Martin Miller and Kelvin (Tracy Cannon) Miller, both of Knoxville, TN; three daughters, Linda (Rodney) Kuhn, Cindy Miller, and Louise (Shawn) Miller, all of Knoxville, TN; 23 grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; her first husband, Raymond F. Miller of Harrison Valley; a brother, George Dean of Petersburg, TN; two sisters, Patricia (Hervey) Hand of Harrison Valley and Twilla Wood of Westfield, PA; a step-son, James (Kim) Abbey of Tunnelton, WV; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Hugh J. Abbey, she was predeceased by two sons, Meldon C. Miller and Roger F. Miller; a step-son, Randy H. Abbey; three sisters, Blanche Robbins, Evelyne Baker, and Hally Lampman; and four brothers, Robert Dean, Merlin Dean, Crawford Dean, and Andrew Dean.

Friends may call Thursday, April 29, 2010 from 2:00 -- 4:00 and 7:00 -- 9:00 PM at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA, where Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Duane Burdick will officiate. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
