East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania Offering Summer Courses at PCEC

The Potter County Education Council will host several classes from East Stroudsburg University.

ELED 570: Introduction to Research
This course is an introduction to the basic principles and major methods used in investigation of educational problems. Attention is given to the significant steps involved in compiling a research proposal. Required of all graduate students in the degree program. The instructor for this course is Craig Wilson and will be held via videoconference at the Coudersport PCEC office. Dates and times for this course are June 14 - July 1 and July 12-July 15, Monday – Thursday from 9 am – 12 pm.

PSED 516: Learner and the Learning Process
A review of various views (humanistic, behavioral, cognitive) of the learner and learning theorists (Skinner, Rogers, Bruner, Piaget). Case studies of actual teaching learning problems are brought to the class by the participants for examination and discussion by the group. The instructor for this course is Keith Ward. The course location will be announced. Dates for this course are June 28 – July 2, Monday – Friday from 8 am – 5 pm.

PSED 555: Practicum in Curriculum Development
This is a course designed to permit individuals or groups (K-12) to work on specific problems in curriculum development and/or implementation, including curriculum planning, selection and construction, implementation of new courses, change, and in-service projects. Teams from schools are encouraged to enroll. The instructor for this course is Keith Ward. The course location will be announced. Dates for this course are July 6 - July 10, Tuesday – Saturday from
8 m – 5 pm.

ELED/PSED 533: Designing and Implementing Programs for Professional Development
This workshop will emphasize the knowledge and skills needed for teachers to participate in designing and facilitating their own professional development programs. Teaching styles and activities will be explored, while participants utilize self-assessment to evaluate their needs and establish goals. Strategies for implementation will be discussed. (Workshop Course). The instructor for this course is Keith Ward. The course location will be announced. Dates for this course are July 12 - July 16, Monday – Friday from 8 am – 5 pm.
