Edgar R. Marvin, 78, Eldred,, PA

ELDRED, PA - Edgar R. Marvin, 78, died Friday (May 14, 2010) at his residence on Windfall Road after a long battle with cancer.

Born July 18, 1931, in Olean, NY, he was a son of Clifton and Winifred Norton Marvin. He lived with his wife of 27 years, Sharon L. Kuhn Marvin, who survives.

Mr. Marvin had attended Olean Schools and resided in Ceres, PA, before moving to Windfall Road in 1972. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Army. After the war, he served a tour with the U.S. Air Force before returning for another tour with the U.S. Army. He had also served in Japan, and Berlin, Germany.

He was employed for 27 years in the woodshop at Viko Furniture in Eldred, which later became Ethan Allen, before retiring in 1993. He had also been employed part time doing roofing jobs and tree trimming.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a stepson, Chuck (Yvonne) Shreve of Eldred; two stepdaughters, Sharon (John) Nofsker of Bradford, PA and Carolyn (Robert) Sawville of Tucson, AZ; four stepgrandchildren; a brother Robert "Pete" (Bernie) Marvin of Jacksonville, FL; one sister, Margery "Minnie" (Francis) Mooney of Ceres, PA; and several nieces and nephews, including Randy (Roberta) Stickles of Ceres, NY.

He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Marvin; and three sisters, Barb Baldwin, Twila Stickles and Verna "Peggy" Dumke.
