120 Laid Off Truck-Lite Employees Not Recalled In Hiring Blitz

Out With The Old

Truck-Lite Hiring New Employees, Not Pleasing Former Ones

By Dennis Phillips,
Jamestown Post-Journal

FALCONER - The news that Truck-Lite has hired 100 new full-time and 100 temporary employees at its New York and Pennsylvania facilities this year isn't pleasing everyone - mainly their old employees.

After laying off around 120 employees between December 2008 and March 2009, Truck-Lite has been hiring new workers and not recalling any of their former workers. With 200 new employees already hired and 70 to 100 more expected in the coming months, Truck-Lite will be doing no recalling of any laid-off workers.

Greg Certo, Truck-Lite human resources director, said those who were laid off could reapply for re-employment, but no recalls were made.

''Nobody called back with recall rights when we started to hire new people,'' Certo said. ''We allowed people to reapply. A limited number of rehires, no one recalled.'' More...

Shades of what happened when Adelphia laid off their workers. To quote the HR Director at the time, "You are welcomed to reapply for any position."

What 4:24:00 said. It is their company, they can do what they want. If there are people who had a job there and showed them what they could do and still are not called back.....well, they clearly don't want you and would rather test the water with someone new.

You know they get great TAX breaks hiring new people... not rehiring old ones. It all comes down to $$$ for them. Our government gives them incentives to hire new workers. We should have better government control, don't you think?

I still think that they are doing exactly what the county is doing - anything they want!!!So, what's the big deal about posting this?
