The following programs will be offered at SINNEMAHONING STATE PARK

Saturday, June 12, 2010

3:00 PM - Wild Things! - Join the park naturalist at the campground amphitheater for a program on one of Pennsylvania’s native animals. This week’s program will focus on Sinnemahoning’s resident salamanders.

5:00 PM – Hiking is for the Birds!
Come to Sinnemahoning State Park and join as we celebrate National Get Outdoors Day by getting out and exercising both legs and eyes! Join the park naturalist for a hike along the Lowlands Trail through unique bird habitats, and stop to listen for the songs of indigo buntings, common yellowthroats, black and white warblers, and many other migratory songbirds. Binoculars and field guides will be provided. Meet at the 40 Maples Day Use Area. This easy hike is approximately one mile long, and is mostly level. Water, insect repellent, and sunscreen are recommended. For more information, contact the park office at 814-647-8401

8:30 PM - A Shadow of Misunderstanding

The Eastern Timber Rattlesnake is one of the most misunderstood and maligned creatures in the state. Come to the campground amphitheater and listen as we separate fact from fantasy concerning this incredibly specialized reptile.

If you need an accommodation to participate in park activities due to a disability, please contact the Pennsylvania Bureau of State Parks: (888) PA-PARKS (voice), (888) 537-7294 (TTY), (717) 558-2711 (local or international TTY), (800) 654-5984 (PA AT&T Relay Service).
