Genesee Man Slightly Hurt In Morning Crash

Tractor-Trailer, Pickup Truck Collide

A pickup truck and a tractor-trailer collided at the intersection of Route 6 and Telescope Road in Ulysses Township at 5:30 this morning.

In a fax sent to WESB and The HERO, State police say 34-year-old John Simons of Genesee fell asleep at the wheel of the pickup. 46-year-old Timothy Portzline of Mount Pleasant Mills was just started to go through the intersection when Simons woke up, but his truck hit the rear axle of the trailer. The pickup spun around before coming to rest.

Charges of careless driving and not using seatbelt will be filed against Simons. He suffered minor injuries. Portzline wasn’t hurt.

The pickup had major damage. The tractor-trailer had disabling damage.

Our state cops at it again, does that guy really deserve getting writ up because he fell asleep? All the cops around hear know how to do is write tickets!

what??? If you cant be a responsible driver you DESERVE a ticket! He could have killed someone in your family or mine! If you are too tired to drive stay off the road...I cant believe that anyone would think it is ok to fall asleep while you are driving!!!

Yes, someone could have been hurt but we praise the Lord that no one did. People think they are ok to drive and some might have problems with falling asleep especially coming off a long night at work.

I wonder why the fire and amb dept's were not called? It says a man was slightly injured, are the state cops doctors now.

No the state cops arnt doctors there gods, didnt you know that. Ask one they will tell you!

Isn't it up to the 911 dispatcher if emergency services are called/needed. The article says "minor injuries."

I wasn't aware that the fire department or members of the ambulance dept. were doctors either?!

5:14pm
No fire and amb members are not doctors but to many times the fire or amb has been called long after the incident has happened. It seems to be happening alot more than it ever used to also.

And how does that get blamed on the state police 8:40??

Not blaming it on the state police!
What's the matter are you a trooper?
