LEARN TO SWIM PROGRAM AT LYMAN LAKE

LEARN TO SWIM PROGRAM AT LYMAN LAKE

The Friends of Lyman Run State Park will be sponsoring a "Learn to Swim" program this summer at Lyman Lake.

This will be the American Red Cross swimming program and will be held in two sessions, one in July and one in August. Classes will be held on Saturday and Sunday mornings and students need to plan to attend both days. Each session lasts for 4 weeks.

Class size is limited to 8 students per age group. A parent or guardian is required present for each child for each class, and their participation is encouraged. They must participate (be in the water) with the 4 - 6 year old group.

Cost per student for the total session is $65.00 for non-Friends members, $55.00 for Friends members. A $30. 00 deposit is required at pre-registration and the remainder will be collected at the first class session.

The Friends of Lyman Run group is trying to bring some of the cost down by accepting donations - any business wishing to contribute to this program should contact the Lyman Run office at (814) 435-5010.

Lyman Lake has a long legacy of being the place where most Galeton and Potter county residents have learned to swim and the Friends group would like to continue this tradition. It is important that children learn how to take advantage of the beautiful water resource at the park and be able to enjoy it fully and safely.

Class times are as follows: 12 to 14 yr olds will meet at 8:00 a.m.; 10 to 11 yr olds will meet at 9:00 a.m.; 8 to 9 yr. olds will meet at 10:00 a.m.; and 4 to 6 yr. olds will meet at 11:00 a.m. Classes will run 50 minutes.

The July session will begin on Saturday, July 10th and run until Sunday, August 1.

The August session will begin on Saturday, August 7 and conclude on Sunday, August 29.

If your child has a personal flotation device (life vest) please bring that along. Changing facilities and restrooms are available at the beach house.

To register your child for this class or if you have any questions, please call the Lyman Run State Park office at (814) 435-5010.
