A 27 year old Roulette resident has been sentenced to a jail term of 6-12 months for attempting to elude police officers, to pay $1000 in fines for various summary traffic violations and to perform 50 hours of community service.

Eric Lamont was arrested by Coudersport based-state police last September 10 after he gave a verbal confession to investigating officers following an incident taking place two nights earlier.

Troopers tried to stop Lamont on Burleson Avenue in the Township of Roulette due to an inoperable headlight. When lights and sirens were activated on the patrol car, the driver of the vehicle accelerated quickly to a high rate of speed traveling on Lanninger Creek Road. During the pursuit the Trooper was notified that Eric Lamont, the operator of the vehicle had a suspended license.

The pursuit ended in the area of Hamilton Hollow when the defendant stopped his vehicle and fled into the woods on foot. When contacted by troopers on September 10, 2009, Lamont admitted he was the one driving the car and the one who fled into the woods. More news...
