Logger Who Cut 55 Trees On Wrong Property Arrested

Timber Theft In Sharon Township
A timber theft on private property off of Wildcat Road in Sharon Township that occurred between March 1 and March 25, 2009 has resulted in theft charges against an Oswayo logger.

State Police say Kalub James Hanchett, 29, of 101 School Street, Oswayo, PA, was logging for a neighbor of the victim when he crossed the property line and harvested 55 hardwood trees valued at $2285.00 on the property of Eileen Mildred Snyder of Halifax, PA.

Hanachett was arrested and arraigned before on-call District Judge Delores Bristol who set bail at $15,000.00 unsecured.

Maybe if you could spell correctly 7:41, you might be taken seriously. It is THROW. And don't be so judgemental. You don't know how far over the property line he was. For all you know it could be an honest mistake. People are far to quick to judge before hearing all the facts.

Regardless, even if it was a mistake, he should have known where the property line was!

Kalub has done several logging jobs for me and has always honest and professional . This incident was a mistake because he told me of it a month ago . There is a lot more to this story then what your reading here . and to 7:41 and 1:38 , if you would like to leave your names i'd be glad to call you and give you the story

If he was not a timber thief why didn't he make it right with the land owner when given the chance. I know the land owner attempted to settle this issue without the law and got no results or cooperation from Mr. Hanchett. Log delivery slips had to be tracked down by helpful nieghbors in the timber business. This man is knew full well what he was doing or had done.
A thief is a thief.
