Men Charged After Shooting Incident In Cherry Springs

Six downstate men were charged early Saturday
morning after a shooting incident near Cherry Springs in Potter County. State Police said the shooting came from two different camps located off Route 44 in Summit Township.

Troopers said the men were charged after they discharged numerous rounds of ammunition during early morning hours (3:00 am) over a prolonged period of time, in response to each other's shooting of increased intensity.

The activity disturbed several residents of the Cherry Springs area.

The men charged are:

Camp #1--Anthony John Ouimet Jr., 23, 420 W. Chestnut Street, Apt. 1, Perkasie, PA, Travis Ralph Shaak, 24, 461 S 10th St, Apt. B 303, Quakertown, PA.

Camp #2--Brian Matthew Ruoss, 28, 610 Charles Drive, Gilbertsville, PA, Robert James Yost III, 28, 625 Clayhor Ave., Collegeville, PA, Isiah Alan Lenko, 22, 590 W. Neversink Road, Reading, PA, and Joseph Andrew Weinhold, 36, 301 Broad Street, Nox 222, Terre Hill, PA.

Each of the men will answer charges of DISORDERLY CONDUCT through District Court 55-3-01 in Coudersport.

Why do people come to our area and just cause all sorts of trouble? Yes we may be a recreational tourist sort of area but we also live here. This is our home. They come here with no regard of how much they can and are disturbing us. I am all for having a good time but shooting guns at 3:00 in the morning?! come on. Those camps are not that far apart from each other. They had to have known that others around them could hear it. Obviously they didn't care or were too drunk to care. Which makes it worse. Alcohol and firearms. Yeah that's a good combination. They were lucky not one of them got shot accidently. The four wheelers scream past our property at all hours of the night, too.

Where is the NRA when you need them? I hope the NRA defends these guys. There is no mention of time restrictions in the second amendment!

I would hope the NRA would side with the police. If the NRA condone's unweildy drunken firing binges than who need's them.

Well I'll be! I thought it was the gas drillers causing all the ruckus in God's Country!

I own a camp not far from where this happened. I come to Potter County for the peace and quite not for the Hatfields and McCoyes. I too belong to the NRA and hope they side with the police.

Where does it mention anything about them being drunk? I just love how everyone in this community assumes. You will complain about our visitors and smack them with one hand but the other hand is outstretched to take their money.

I don,t make a dime from these idiots who come here and think the law is a million miles away. I would like to know where the rest of the charges are that locals would have been smacked with-- reckless endangerment..safetyzone violations..discharging a firearm with in public highway.. I suppose since our troopers are all from downstate something must have been worked out. I hope locals can expect the same break.

tards will be tards..... Shooting guns at 3 am... I`m willing to wager alcohol was involved... Along with a healthy dose of stupidity

Wasn't there something in the Endeavor about someone wanting to build more camps up Cherry Springs way? Just what we need, more people shooting off guns and ruining Potter County's beauty!

Hmmm....when I bought my land that is out of town....I did not see anywhere that shooting a weapon is restricted to certain hours....Again my land, not yours!

So no one within a mile of you has any rights to sleep at 3am, because it is your land? It was idiots like this that shot my house a few years ago(I live out of town too) It hit the side of the house where my kids room is....there is no reason to shoot at 3am.

Noise is noise, live with it once in a while!

The Hatfields and McCoys buried the hatchet 10 years ago.

it may be your land THAT YOU BOUGHT BUT WHERE DOES THAT LEAD LAND DUMB BO. would it be OK if I come to your neiborhood and touched off 40 rounds of 270 shells at 3:00 a.m in the morning?

I think the issue here is making a bunch of noise at 3AM, not possessing or shooting the guns off. If these numbnuts were "down home" they probably wouldn't like someone keeping them up all night with shooting.

We don't mind shooting during the day hours, but their are many people here during the weekend and would like to sleep during the night. Their are also children that live in the area and they would like to be able to play during the day. So if you are planning on shooting during the day make sure that you have something to shoot into. Don't just shoot into the air to see if you can outdo the other person.

since i was little, i have been going up to potter county. i never had any issue with people making complaints or have crying over noise. before we say all these things and blow this out of proportion lets get THE FACTS STRAIGHT!!!! IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE OF THIS TOWN COOL GREAT MOVE ON TO ANOTHER POST. there is no noise ordinance up there just curiosity about time. why is it when there is a police log the first thing to say is that every one is drunk? come on people be real! its the MTS people like to have fun and live THEIR LIVES. this not a residential area were talking about its IN THE WOODS!!!! HELLO! thats why you go to the MTS to have fun! if want to live in a quiet place go to a retirement home. if you have property and know you "boundaries" and "safety zones" and its marked PRIVATE what more do you want? stop over reacting and GET THE FACTS from a REAL SOURCE.
