Port Allegany Teen Seriously Injured In Sizerville Road Crash

Port Allegany Man
Seriously Injured In Crash On Sizerville Road

At 11:00 pm on Thursday night, Emporium Company 14 and Emporium Ambulance responded to a vehicle accident south of the park on Sizerville Road by the ball field in Portage Township. Entrapment was reported.

A Stat helicopter requested to the Portage Township ball field was unable to fly due to weather. Other flight services were also unable to respond.

At 11:34 pm, the patient had been extricated by personnel from the Emporium Fire Department and was transported to Elk Regional Medical Center by Emporium Ambulance where he was subsequently transferred to a trauma center.

UPDATE: James Donald Nellis, 18, of 308 North Main Street, Port Allegany, PA, was driving a 1993 Jeep Station Wagon south on Route 155 on his way to work when he lost control of his vehicle for an unknown reason.

His Jeep crossed both lanes of travel, crossed the east berm and went over a small embankment before impacting a large tree. The Jeep continued traveling south in a wooded area and struck another large tree where the vehicle came to rest.

Nellis was extricated and taken first to Elk Regional Medical Center and then transferred to a trauma center. His vehicle was severely damaged.

Family members have provided additional information in comments.

I was there right after it happened and it was really bad. My prayers are with him and his family.

Does anyone know who it was? Or what kind of car it was?

It was a Jeep cherokee sport and I refuse to release his name. If the rest of the family wants people to know they will put it out there.

I do not know this young man personally, however my son is one of his teammates for the Big 30 PA team. He was very upset when he heard of this tragic accident. He has just gotten to know James through Big 30 practice and speaks very highly of him. Our family has yours in our prayers for hope and healing. God bless.

To James's Family: The information we posted here was taken from the emergency dispatch website. We assumed it was correct, but we certainly apologize if we passed on incorrect information. We hope and pray that James makes a quick recovery.

I don't see where any of the information posted on Solomon's was in any way offensive to James or his family. I really think it was out of line to direct a threat to Jim for posting information that was already a matter of public access. This site is here for the purpose of keeping the public informed. There are alot of people that wouldn't know of these things, and that would be less prayers for the family..so thank you Jim for the job you do with this wonderful site, and my prayers go out to James' family.

To clarify--The destination of the patient transfer was apparently incorrect and we passed it on in the early morning after the crash. We corrected it first thing this morning when family comments indicated a different destination. The family is correct in being upset, I would be upset too if it were my family.

I graduated with James and I hope he's ok. I just heard about the accident and I couldn't help but start crying since we were friends this whole year for once. If anyone goes to visit him please tell him that Becca T. says he better heal up soon.

I don't see what is the issue with anything reported here. I would assume family would be more concerned about an injured family-member rather than threatening members of the "media" over what might have been an honest mistake.

Jaime, we hope and pray James has a speedy and full recovery. If there is anything we can don't hesitate. The Taylors

If the information was not exactly correct on how he got there.. it just dosnt matter. what matters is he got there either way and got the help he needed.. not a big deal! I hope he has a speedy recovery!

Lord, hear our heartfelt prayer
for the healing of our brother.
We pray for your mercy,
Your compassion, Your grace and Your love,
in making him whole and well again.
Make the work of those treating and helping him
full of Your perfection,
and grant him a quick and complete recovery.
Lead and guide those around him
to provide what he needs: encouragement,
assistance and support.
Lord, we pray that you will
wrap Your loving arms around him,
giving him comfort, strength and peace,
drawing him ever closer to You,
as you lead him through this trying time.
In Jesus’ name we pray; Amen.

I would like to know what info was wrong... I was their and know for a fact where he was taken to 1st and then transfered to later, and later again. Everything that I read was correct, when I read it the first time this was posted.

We as emergency responders, never here how the "patient" ever makes out, exspecially if they are from out of Cameron County. I like this web blog, because it keeps us updated on whats going on with them, so when you only do it on facebook, it keeps us out of the loop. We care or we wouldnt be doing this.

WE ARE PRAYING FOR HIM AND HIS FAMILY!!

I was speechless when I received word of the accident. Though I didn't have James in my classes, he always had a smile on his face and said hello as he would pass me in the hallway. James is a strong and wonderful young man, and my prayers are with him and the family.

For those that have been focusing on the response of the family - have some compassion. When a loved one is injured, little things can trigger a whole lot. I found that out first hand about 5 years ago. Emotions are high and nerves are short. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE respect the family.

I know I walked with james to vo-tech and he was always one to put a smile on someones face. When i heard of this it hit hard. I was not friends much with him but i have no bad blood on him. I pray for him and his family and i hope he makes a speedy recovery. Get well soon and best wishes to everyone it effects.
