Scholarships Awarded from Community Foundation Funds

So far in 2010 the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers (CFTT) has had the privilege of awarded the following scholarships from funds under CFTT management. They range from $500 to $4,000. Individuals receiving these scholarships include:

Finkle Rosenberg Scholarship Fund ($2,000) awarded to Emily A. Kisloski to attend Niagra University in Niagra, NY major in Elementary Education. Emily is a graduate of Owego Free Academy.

Elizabeth Alamo Nursing Scholarship Fund ($500) awarded to Erika Kisel to attend SUNY Binghamton in Binghamton, NY to major in Nursing. Erika is a graduate of Waverly High School.

Don & Linda Jayne Scholarship Fund ($500) awarded to Devin Soper to attend Corning Community College in Corning, NY in their LAS Program in Math & Science. Devin is a graduate of Waverly High School.

Dot Kemp Scholarship ($4,000) awarded to Kip Buchanan to attend Modern Welding School in Schenectady, NY to study Welding. Kip is a graduate of Canton High School.

Troy Lions Club Huck Scholarship ($500) awarded to Courtney Mattocks to attend Penn State Altoona in Altoona, PA to major in Nursing. Courtney is a graduate of Troy High School.

Babe & George Tymoski/Rockman’s Apparel Scholarship ($500) awarded to Meagan Nowacoski to attend Coastal Carolina University in Conway, SC to major in Marketing. Meagan is a graduate of Athens High School.

Katherine Kerrigan Scholarship Fund ($2,000) awarded to Anna Tubbs to attend Corning Community College in Corning, NY to major in Liberal Arts. Anna is a graduate of Waverly High School.

Katherine Kerrigan Scholarship Fund ($2,000) awarded to Lydia Morris to attend St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY to major in Chemistry. Lydia is a graduate of Waverly High School.

Katherine Kerrigan Scholarship Fund ($2,000) awarded to Ariel Atchison to attend Robert Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY to major in Liberal Arts. Ariel is a graduate of Waverly High School.

Marilyn Bok, CEO stated, “These funds were established by multiple donors who all believed in the value of education in improving the ability of individuals to provide for their families and ultimately benefitting society.” The CFTT is happy to assist them in this effort.

The mission of the CFTT is to continuously improve the present and future quality of life in the counties served by the Foundation (Bradford, Potter, Sullivan, and Tioga Counties in PA and Tioga County, NY). It establishes endowment funds from contributions of many individual citizens, corporations, other foundations, other charitable organizations and government agencies and uses the interest earned from these funds to make grants to the community.

CFTT is a pure public charity, incorporated as a non-profit organization, which has been granted 501(c)(3) status by the IRS.
