Troopers Throw The Book At ATV Operator Who Trespassed

Roulette resident Kyle Bonneau is in the news again, barely 2 months since he turned 21 years old with a birthday celebration he won't likely soon forget, busting up the local saloon and leading police on a chase from Austin thru Emporium before police finally stopped him near Sinnemahoning.

Last Saturday afternoon about 1:45 pm, Jonathan Huff and his mom were talking at their home at 48 Main Street in Roulette Township, when an ATV and a large wheeled motorcycle traveled thru his property which is plainly marked with "NO ATV" signs, traveled under a gate, through his lawn, and down his driveway and proceeding down Main Street.

Surprised that someone would blatantly disregard the signs and drive thru his yard, Jon got in his vehicle and followed the ATV to an area in front of Drabee's Mini Mart on River Street.

Jon confronted Kyle Bonneau, 21, of Roulette, PA, and reported that Kyle gave him an attitude.

State Police were called. They responded with two cars and investigated the complaint of the Criminal Trespass on the Huff property without permission.

As a result of the investigation, Trooper Jenary filed charges of TRESPASS BY MOTOR VEHICLE; LIABILITY INSURANCE; REGISTRATION OF SNOWMOBILE OR ATV; DRIVING WHILE OPERATING PRIVILEGE IS SUSPENDED OR REVOKED; DRIVERS REQUIRED TO BE LICENSED; AND OPERATION IN SAFE MANNER. The charges were filed in District Judge Barbara J. Easton's Courtroom in Shinglehouse on August 15, 2010.

On August 17, 2010, Trooper Yoder filed a summary charge of CRIMINAL TRESPASS in the same courtroom.

The release from PSP did not identify the operator of the motorcycle.

How long until a post defends him or tells us we don't know the whole story, so we shouldn't comment?

Makes a parent proud.

I don't care if ATV's pass through my property as long as they are not reckless when they do it.

If you are the kind of person who rules your property boundaries with an iron first, why live in a place like Roulette?

Anonymous said...

If someone does not people riding ATV's on their property and it is stated on a sign then the ATV rider should have enough respect and not ride their ATV on that property.

Anonymous said...

Didn't take long, did it?

Anonymous said...

its not ruling with an iron first... its common courtesy. if someone doesnt want you riding through their yard then thats their choice... its not your property and the property owners rights should be respected...

just because youll let anyone go through youre propety whenever they see fit, doesnt mean that everyone should...

as for the not knowing the whole story... if you look at the investigation report, i believe that pretty much sums up the story... obviously there wouldnt be a list of charges if nothing happened...

Its obvious that he really did care about others property. Look what happened a few weeks ago. Maybe the stay in jail was to short. Maybe the bail ought to be revoked. I am surely disappointed in this young man. I thought that he was turning his life around, apparently not.

YEE HAW!

We have always let folks use our property for their ATVs, but there are a few who ruin it for all! While most folks are thoughtful and considerate, there are a few who ride way too fast, stirring up dust and risking the lives of our pets. Kudos to the guy who chased down one of the (expletive) and got some satisfaction!!

Anonymous said...

Looks to me like that young fella is a slow learner!
I do not post my property but certainly have it under consideration mainly because of the fact only one person has ever asked to ride on or across my property.
What gives the poster the idea he /she can tell somone were they should or should not live .

Anonymous said...

When he came to the borough meeting in Austin to apologize for
his actions.He told everyone that
he has found the lord.I am certain
that the lord drives an ATV also.

Anonymous said...

Maybe he hasn't taken his offenses seriously since only charges were pressed in Austin, nothing has happen to him for his actions at the Friendly that night and he probably has a 50-50 chance to get these charges dropped down..gotta love that new DA's office. And I thought "Dawn's ruling" was bad.
The only thing that is taken seriously around these parts is drugs..which is only sending the message that anything else is ok to do

Anonymous said...

There is a reason people put up no trespassing signs, maybe they have kids that play in their yard, or animals that will chase an ATV, or maybe they are just sick of people thinking the world is theirs to destroy whatever the reason, the bottom line is they have paid for the property and have the right to decide who can & can't be on it.

Anonymous said...

Strike 2... look over your options a little better and you might not strike out before you`re 22... I`m not counting on it though.

Ken Bonneau said...

Is this really a news worthy story? Kids do stupid things, this was a stupid thing. Why gang up on the kid with a bunch of "Anonymous" posts?

Jeez....does anyone remember being young and stupid?

Anonymous said...

9:07...the DA's Office has nothing to do with when the charges are filed.

Remember the ending to all of PSP's news releases...."the investigation is ongoing."

Now wipe your snotty little nose, get a clue, and stop chocking on that big bitter pill!! :}

Anonymous said...

Yep, it's newsworthy. If we can't get the little things right, like respect for someone elses property right, theres no hope for the bigger things.

Behavior does't lie. Hope you boy turns around and develops some humility & shame for wrong actions

Andy Kulp, Jr said...

This totally amazes me the amount of trouble that these kids/adults are causing with their 4 wheelers and dirt bikes. When I was younger and we would ride we had respect for the property owners...no one would tell us that we weren't allowed to ride on their property because we had that respect...the State Police would tell us that if we rode down the road on the side and didn't race that they would leave us alone as long as no one complained. They also said that if they would try to pull us over and we took off that it would be more trouble than what it would be if we just stopped and let them do their job. We always warned anyone that was riding with us that if the State Police turned on their lights to stop you and you don't stop that we would just turn you in because it was trouble for all of us riding together. Now the riders have no respect and they ride down the middle of the rode popping wheelies,etc....it's no wonder that the State Police are always in Roulette. Come on you guys...have some respect for peoples property and if it says no ATV's OR snowmobiles then that means "NO" ATV's or snowmobiles. It ruins it for everyone...even the leisure riders. Trust me...I and many others really don't think it is cool when you go flying down the road doing a wheeley...if anything we are probably saying "well...there goes another stupid a*s thinking he is cool!!!"

Anonymous said...

I remember being young and stupid...it was called high school.

You are 21, time to frickin grow up a little bit, just a tad. I don't think it is too much to ask of a 21 year old to obey laws and simple common courtesy signs. I am sure if he would have appologized to Jon, no police would have been called, but since he decided to act like a dildine...now he's got some more fines to deal with.
By the time he's 22 he should be just about 86'd from every bar in Potter County...so that's a good start on a track to better behavior.

Karen D said...

Well where should I begin I live at that house where this all happened and what if my granddaugher was playing in the yard,,and some ATV (which shouldn't be in the yard!) hit her because they couldnt slow down or stop in time? Would anyone be worried about driving ATVs on anyone's property.. I don't think so. Yes we live in Roulette but with all the hills and trails they don't need to be in home owners back yards. Especially if there is a sign that says TRAIL CLOSED. FYI the trail was not in the back yard to begin with ... it ran along the guardrails on route 6. As for young and stupid .. we all have to grow up sometime. Another FYI Jon allows the use of the property north of route 6 for ATVs and snowmobiles.. and always has , he just asks that they stay out of the yard.

Anonymous said...

It is a matter of respect for something that belongs to someone else. I own over 300 acres and have watched as my land has become rutted with 4 wheeler trails. None of these unsightly trails were there when I bought the property almost 30 years ago. what has happened to respect.

Anonymous said...

10:55 poster
there was no news release on anything that happen in Roulette. So I can get my facts straight, cause I wouldn't want to blame someone that is never wrong, if the DA has nothing to do with charges pressed; who do the troopers have to answer to when pressing charges? who decides if the charges the trooper wants to press are proceeded with or not? or do they run amuck? Just a curious inquiry.....Keep up the overtime.

"gang up on a kid!"

Last I knew 21 was an adult?!

Maybe that's the problem?! This "kid" seems to be attacked by everyone according to mommy and daddy.

People make mistakes all the time!! It's not his mistake everyone is attacking, it's his character. A smart mouthed, bratty kid only grows up to be a smart ass, punk!

Who's fault is that??

Anonymous said...

12:57, You're FUN!!

Nobody told you to get your facts straight?!

Who said that there was a news release about the charges at the Friendly?!

Who said that the DA doesn't have anything to do with the charges?!

Who said someone is never wrong??

Man, I get a headache just reading your posts....I couldn't imagine actually thinking them?!

That's real smart to say u prolly got kids who are the same way !!!!!

Ken Bonneau said...

How many 21 year old men do you consider "adult"?

I'm 53 years old and at 21 I was either drunk at a frat party helping to destroy something- anything or chasing the Grateful Dead across the country.

I own my own home, do not owe a dime to anyone and have been out of work for a total of 2 weeks in 30+ years.

Moral to the story - Folks do indeed grow up

No, Kyle is not my son by either blood nor marriage yet we do share the same last name.

Cut the guy some slack. Yes, he trespassed and for who knows what reason. Was it just to blatently defy the posted sign? I doubt it. Who doesn't screw up? Who hasn't screwed up in the past? Any of you 20, 30, 40, 50+ that are pointing fingers should just take a long look at how immature you were and the stupid antics you were up to at his age. It doesn't make what he did right, but to degrade a person like I've seen on here isn't very caring.

Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Long as parents bail their kids out of trouble they will keep disrespecting property. My parents always told me if I ever got in trouble with the law then its my problem. I said the same to my children. If they disrespect somebody else property and end in jail then they will sit there and think about what they done.

Kyle just so happens to be one of the kindest, gentle & compassionate young men I have ever known. How many of you know Kyle personally?? Not many by the negative comments I have been reading. Please...leave him alone & let him go back to the pipeline where he can be productive. Do you really want to keep him here & destroy him? He has a good life away from here & this broken justice system. Tell me...who has he killed or raped...that he deserves this kind of treatment??? Were none of you ever young??? Give it a rest!!

THANK YOU FOR STICKIN UP FOR MY BROTHER ....everyone else needs to shut up ! Except Ken Bonneau ...

Anonymous said...

He is so kind, gentle and compassionate that he went on a joyride on his 21st bday and destroyed other peoples property and then he decided couple months later to go on a joyride with his ATV and ride through someones yard that had it posted that they did not want ATV's or snowmobiles in the yard. I was young once and I knew not to disrespect other peoples property. This young man needs to learn his lesson if he breaks the law he needs to pay the consequences. These little crimes usually leads up to more harsher crimes. So if he does end up raping a girl or robbing a place are you going to stick up for him then and say he is just young? What if that girl he rapes is your daughter or sister? Would you still say he is just a kid? I doubt it.

Anonymous said...

WOW?? A smart mouth punk breaks the law, several times, and it's the "broken justice system" to blame??

Yeah, send him to the pipelines and lets not make him be held accountable for his actions!! Wonder if it's that mind frame that got him here in the first place??

"How many of you know Kyle personally?? Not many by the negative comments I have been reading!"

Maybe that's the problem!! People DO KNOW HIM!!!

A bunch of Potter County loosers from Roulette, Pennsylvania. Shame on all of you. Many of whom I presume are flatlanders...go home & leave us all alone. This County would be much better off without a bunch of flatlanders buying & posting all the property. Who cares if someone steps a foot on your property...what does it hurt? Never used to be this way before the flatlanders moved in & took over. Go back to where you came from!!!!!!!!!! This is personal for me...so guess I better let it go...as all of you negative people need to do also.

Hateful & heartless...I would sure hate to be in your shoes at the end of the day. YOU will all answer for these horrible comments someday. Is this article really even newsworthy? Only here in Potter County...I have personally seen what people like you can do to a young person's life. I know, because I'm one of your victims. I'm now 50 plus years old & am still haunted by Potter County evildoers some 35 years ago. Think about the harm you're doing. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about. Nobody's perfect...not even YOU!!! What goes around, comes around!! Please... let it go!!

meh, I have ridden through peoples property before at a slow pace careful not to tear up the grass etc. to have the land owner come flying out of the house screaming at me. For what exactly?

I was very careful and barely left an imprint in the grass. I didn't have a good way to get around the property and I would have stayed to apologize to the landowner but they were charging at me fuming mad, so I left.

I understand I should have not been on their property (although it was not marked) but some people need to chillax a little too.

Some people enjoy scolding others a little too much.

How 'bout this scenario "Karen D"...your granddaughter was run over, you were raped & your husband was killed...then you'd have a newsworthy post. Just think about that for a moment. Now, how terrible was this incident? REALLY?? Sounds like you're a hypocritical evildoer trying to make an issue out of nothing at all.

The article said Jon did not like his attitude when he approached him. Well, how was Jon's attitude and tone at the time? Was it any better?
You can't just walk up to some guys screaming at them and expect them to get on their knees and call you sir. Respect is a 2 way street. Having the police on speed dial isn't the same thing as being tough, no matter how much you wish it was.

All of you negative people might want to clean up your own back yards before attacking other people. Roulette...SHAMEFUL!!<<i like this one

But this is Kyle Bonneau and i am truely remorseful and sorry for the incident that has happened on my 21st birthday,However this incident that happened just the other day when i was taking my 11 year old niece on a 4 wheeler ride and came down to Mr.Huffs moms property i found out the trail was changed because there used to be a trail that went behind fessedens shop and it was overgrown or didnt exsist anymore so instead of turning around and going down route 6 to put my niece in danger of cars driving 55-60 mph i decided to go VERY slow around the edge of Mr.Huffs moms yard and proceded until i came to the car show where i was talking to an individual and Mr.Huff pulled up beside me facing the oncoming traffic lane and said "WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DRIVING IN MY YARD?!!!" now i am a very easy going individual (when i dont have liquor which i have quit drinking since the incident on the 12th) but Mr.Huff was cussing in front of my niece and disrespecting me so of coarse im not going to get on my knees and beg for forgiveness when he could have just came up to me and said "hey i would appreciate it if you just wouldn't come in the the yard" and i would of said "thats no problem i am sorry, the trail i used to travel was over grown or gone and i didnt want to take my niece down route 6" and that would have solved all the problems but since Mr.Huff needs to go to anger classes he couldnt just say it politely so the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania gave me 6 citations which is ok because i belive in the justice system and understand how it works.

Anonymous said...

what would have solved the problem is he should have parked his atv and walked up to the guys door and explain the situation and ask for permissions to cross?

hope it goes differently next time.

Anonymous said...

When in doubt, check it out!

Jonathan Huff said...

OK, I have been refraining from comment, but seeing how Kyle has decided to voice his side of the story, I will share mine as well.
He claims that he was given no alternative other than to cross my yard with his niece with Route 6 being a bad choice. Even if that were the case, had he parked and asked, I probably would have allowed it. However that is not the case. He and his niece went under a closed and locked gate across the road that goes up the hollow, before even getting to Route 6. Had he chose to turn around and go back down the trail that he originally went up in the first place, he would not have even had to consider the options he faced. Apparently he is familiar with my property and should have known the alternative routes. Sure I was agitated when I caught up with him, who wouldn't have been. I had every right to be. Had he chosen to not escalate the problem and agitate me even more, the police never would have been involved. I have seen him in action and I chose not to continue escalating the situation. Had he chose to not lie to the officers when they questioned him, they may have chose to not throw the book at him when video surveillance proved him to be a liar. His life choices led to my actions and his consequences.
As for the inferences made within the posts that I have read, I am by no means a flat lander, I was born and raised here, my family has been here since the 1700's, I am about as local as it gets. I don't post my land, I gladly allow people to enjoy it, with a few exceptions. However I do ask that they show the respect of not tearing it up or invading the privacy of my yard. Close to 200 acres of my land are available for almost everyone to use and enjoy. Tell me now, how is that so terrible? How would I be met by you anonymous posters if I decided to take a joy ride through your back yard when other SAFE options were available? Not very happily I would assume. My reaction to his actions were warranted and I would do it again under the same circumstances.
And yes Kyle, this is MY property as well, check the Register and Recorder's office, the deed is there and my name appears first on it. I will say this for you though, at least you had the balls to post your name to your comment, unlike many others here. I respect you for that if nothing else.

Anonymous said...

the young man went of his own acccord to apologize to the Boro of Austin for his actions and you are mocking him for acknowledging his faith? Someone calls the police the minute his 4 wheeler rides on their property, unreal. I know the young man, and yes 21 is still a kid by any account. He is kind, hard working and has stepped up to be accountable for his poor judgement. I say back off maybe a little. Seems like a handful want to kick him while he is down. A small investment of mercy and understanding may be all he needs. Remember what goes around comes around. You may just need a bit of compassion yourself, don't be too quick to judge. Kyle is a fine young man....no problems that can't be overcome....

Wow - All of this over something so minor.

Lets recap: A young man and an 11 year old child trespassed on a gentleman's private property by driving his ATV down the wrong path. Unpleasantries were exchanges between this young man and the gentleman that owned the property. The police were called. Citations were issued.

Yet the blood lust continues.

Why just throw him in jail? Why not have a public stoning or hanging - maybe a public flogging? Would this bring comfort to the hearts of so many in this small Christian town?

Now that John Dillinger has come to town, perhaps I should cancel my next visit to God's Country for my own safety.

Maybe it's time for a reality check here people, I'm just saying...

Too many people who ride those machines do not seem to have any concern about the damage they cause to other peoples' property. I've seen what they have done to somebody else's property on which I have permission to hike and they do not have permission to ride (and destroy). What makes them think they have that right? Some of the dildines on here who rip into Jon Huff need to realize that he has every right to take offense and press this issue and considering that he does allow much of his land to be used by others who might even damage it like these machines are prone to do, why would anybody get on his case? Once a dildine always a dildine perhaps?

The gentleman that owns the property has the perfect right to the privacy and protection of his property BUT because this is a personal issue between the land owner and Mr. Bonneau should be the only one with a legitimate opinion to express. The rest of the nonsense is just nonsensical piling on and quite frankly the sole business of the property owner and the accused trespasser.

@Ken- you point out the only two people with an opinion that matters are the property owner and the trespasser. yet, in a classic case of irony, you continue to post your opinions.

@Jan-I think people are afraid of Kyle because he takes anger and disappointment to an abnormally high level. As far as the affect he has on the lives of those in the community- think about his last episode with the police and ask how comfortable you would be with that?

As far as living in the area, I miss living where people still give a damn.

Ive done mistakes in the past im sure all of you have done mistakes as teenagers and young adults.. if he hasnt learned in the next 5yrs by all means go kick his ass.. haha!~ but for now he still learning like a young pup trying to have fun. i see he has apologized and the yard thing.. not really that big of a deal. he was with his niece out and having fun with her. it should just rest as that. i think hes just being tagged because hes been in the paper twice in 2 months. still not my problem and any anybody elses.. if he comes and tears up my yard then ill have a right to complain til them im not going to say crap! I hope he is seeking the proper help that he needs right now and pray that he helps himself because at this point thats what its going to take. Kyle if your reading this.. please take whats handed to you and learn from your mistakes grow from it and move on. negative will always come your way.. take it with a grain of salt and move forward i beleive you can do this.. and sorry for the mispelld words never said i was a genius!
