Victim Of Fatal Olean Shooting Identified By Police

Police Identify Victim Of Fatal Shooting

Police have identified the victim of the fatal shooting in Olean, NY, early Tuesday.

27-year-old James Williams was identified as the man who was killed.

At 12:45 am on Tuesday, Olean Police responded to the scene of a shooting in Olean in the area of South 2nd Street where a man was fatally shot.

Williams was reported to have been shot in the face. Another male was injured when he jumped through a second story window to avoid being shot. He is being treated at a Buffalo hospital for injuries received from the fall.

Area police agencies were alerted to look for a white or silver Mercury Sable or Capri, occupied by a black male wearing a hoodie, and possibly accompanied by a white female.

The vehicle was last seen heading south on Route 16 in the Town of Olean. Anyone with information should call Olean Police Dept. or 911.

It is high time the OPD gets rid of the Buffalo rift raft; drug pushing trash that keeps coming in to Olean thinking we are all a bunch of hicks & they can get away with crime. Beef it up! This area of Olean harbors drug dealing right behind the Bruyer's Martial Arts building & upstairs in an empty apartment on the corner of W. State & S. 2nd. St. In this day & age of technology a P.D. should be able to see who is paying rent on a place but not working, doesn't have an inheritance or trust fund, no spouse working, etc. & put 2 & 2 together that drug trafficing may be going on & do a stake out on the area.

First of all you have no idea what happened or anything. For you to just assume that you know this and that you know that is absurd. For one you dont know anything about that man, not one thing. And did you forget he is the victim here. What if it was one of your family members and I was the one saying all this negative stuff? You wouldnt be so pleased would you? And for you to call it Buffalo rift raft is discrimination. Are you implying that because he is black that he deserved it? Because that is what it is sounding like to me? All i have to say is that i hope more Buffalo Rift Raft come in and to your area at that and teach you a little something =)

Wow, Wednesday, August 4, 2010 2:31:00 PM EDT, in the first posters comments I read no racist remarks so maybe you also should get your facts straight. There is scum every where you go, not just Buffalo but its a fact they do have a lot of drug traffic going through the Olean area. Maybe thats not what this involved, but lets think about it... its a pretty logical explanation.

Although i agree that it is unfair to assume that this was a drug related killing, or that this had to do with Buffalo drug trafficking. It is not absurd nor is it discrimination to point out the fact that a majority of the areas drugs are coming from Buffalo. It is naive to think that the influx of the areas drugs has no correlation to the recent growth of Buffalo Natives moving to the area. Also that area of Olean is well known for drugs, and I saw no reference of ethnicity other than the Race of the shooter. It is that "is it because he's black" mentality that has this country stuttering every time they oppose Jesse Jackson or President Obama. Those incendiary and overly sensitive reactions are just a distraction tactic. It is a horrible tragedy and we can not forget that. I personally feel that the current rise in tragedies should have us asking what is happening to our relatively quiet communities and what do we need to do to return it to that. We have seen a growth in violent crime and I think rather than pin down race, we should focus on the factors that are turning our communities up side down.

"factors that are turning our communities upside down"
Lack of work.
Lack of wanting to work.
Lack of having any reason to work.
Entitlements!
Eliminate any and all of these.

For people who have NO idea what kind of person he was wto have a comment to make about anything that happened to him is crazy! If you knew him you would smack yourself for sayin that. This isnt the time to talk crap about things you know nothing about dont you know anything about paying your respects. Just because he lived on a drug street does not mean that all of this happened because of drugs. James was a very nice man and anyone who ever took the time to get to know him would know that. Everyone that really knew him can say he helped them out at least once without any questions asked. He gave gifts to all of his friend children for holidays, bad people dont do that. Everytime i was sad he always put a smile on my face.
If people didnt act like a bunch of hicks nonody would think you are. Nobody calls me a hick and I live in Olean too. And he paid his rent because he got SSI if you really must know but dont think thats really any of your business. And if it wasnt so hard for people to be able to get a job and people didnt always have to sterotype people who have been to jail even before they are given the chance to switch their life around, since we all know we have done bad things that we cant take back, there would not be so many drug dealers aka bad people.
