Convention Scheduled For Potter County Townships

2nd Class Township Convention Scheduled Sept. 25th

Officials representing townships of the second class in Potter County will convene on Saturday, September 25th at Potato City Country Inn for their 81st Annual County Convention. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. with the Convention starting at 9:00 a.m.

The purpose of the annual convention is to provide township officials with up-to-date information to help them better serve their residents and to give them an opportunity to exchange ideas on local government issues.

The convention will feature a wide range of speakers, including James Wheeler, director of environmental affairs; manager, CDL programs of the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors. Wheeler will talk about legislation affecting townships of the second class, association programs and services for townships, and issues of major importance to townships and their residents.

The State Association of Township Supervisors represents Pennsylvania’s 1, 455 townships of the second class, 24 of which are located in Potter County.

Other speakers who will address the township officials include Honorable Stephen Minor, Judge of Potter County; Suzan Paisley representing State Representative Martin T. Causer; Peter Winkler representing U.S. Representative Glenn Thompson; Chuck Dillon representing Lieutenant Governor Joseph B. Scarnati; Charlotte Deitrick, Potter County Planning; Potter County Commissioners Douglas Morley, Paul Heimel and Susan Kefover; and Marlin Moore for the Committee for Earned Income Tax. The afternoon will feature a Round Table discussion to answer questions from the Township Officials.

It is important that all Township Supervisors, Township Secretaries, Auditors and Tax Collectors attend the convention.
