PITT-BRADFORD PANEL DISCUSSION TO EXAMINE ‘NUCLEAR TIPPING POINT’

BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will hold a panel discussion on the “Nuclear Tipping Point” Wednesday Oct. 6.

The program, which is being co-sponsored by the Friends of the Hanley Library and the Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences, will take place at 7 p.m. in the Mukaiyama University Room in the Frame-Westerberg Commons. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

The “Nuclear Tipping Point’ will explore the debates on nuclear issues in the post-9/11 world. The program will include excerpts from a film in which former Secretary of State George Shultz, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, former Secretary of Defense Bill Perry and former Senator Sam Nunn urge nations to secure all nuclear weapons and materials globally to the highest standards and to develop a new international system to manage the risks of producing fuel for nuclear power.

The program will also feature a panel discussion and question-and-answer period led by Dr. Stephen Robar, associate professor of political science, with additional participation by Dr. Tony Gaskew, assistant professor of criminal justice, Vanessa Durland, a criminal justice major from Meshoppen, Gino Macioce, a criminal justice major from Verona, Cari Olewinski, a criminal justice and radiological science double major from Wilcox, and Danielle Schoonover-Wils, a history/political science major from Bradford.
