Running In The Marine Corps Marathon on October 31

Racing to Save Lives

I am running in the Marine Corps Marathon on October 31, 2010. I am trying to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society assists patients and families who are fighting any of the blood cancers such as leukemia, myeloma, lymphoma, and Hodgkins lymphoma. The LLS is relentless in their search for a cure. The hope is that with accelerated funding for research, all blood cancers will be curable by 2015.

We started our fund raising a couple months ago and I am excited to say that we have reached our original personal goal of $1500. I would like all of the families and individuals that have supported our efforts so far. Thank you to: Penny Thomas, Thelma Swift, Barney and Betty Saulter, Dr. Brenda Wahlers, Al McLaughlin, Tim Whitter, Tony and Annette Desio, Tom Wallace, Mary Smith, Brian Smith, George Decker, Jim and Tracy Thorp, Phil and Elaine Bowman, Joe Petrencsik, Tilghman Smith, April and Greg Rukgraber, Karin Karr, Paul and Mary Lilja, Sean Lynn, Brian Caldwell, Adam Misterka, Jesse Kline, Barry and Corinne English, Marty and Amy English, Dave and Sherry Tubbs, those that supported our yard sale, those that have supported our candy bar fund raiser, and those that have donated anonymously.

I would also like to thank the local business that have supported us with their donations. Thank you to: Buchanan Brothers Pharmacy, Inc., William R. Karshner and Sons Insurance Company, Kightlinger Motors, Inc., and Dollar General (especially the Coudersport Store Manager, Darlene). These businesses really do care about their community. Please support these businesses and thank them for supporting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

These individuals, families, and companies realize that sometimes people in our community are faced with health concerns and diagnosis that can be devastating. They care and they just want to help. Please help me in thanking them for supporting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

I am reminded of the parable of the good Samaritan.
And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, and went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And on the marrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbor unto him that fell among the thieves? And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go and do thou likewise.
Luke 10:30-37
