Tioga County, Pa., man, 81, killed by police in shooting

Star Gazette

Pennsylvania State Police in Mansfield said authorities shot and killed an 81-year-old Westfield man early Friday morning following a standoff that began around 2 p.m. Thursday.

Dead is James Pizzinato of 7 state Route 49.

Two troopers tried to serve a mental health warrant on Pizzinato at his home around 2 p.m. Thursday. Pizzinato answered the door and waved a revolver at one of the troopers.

A state police emergency response team was called to the home and police began negotiations with Pizzinato, according to a press release.

Pizzinato came out of the home firing a gun at police. Police returned fire and killed Pizzinato around 12:38 a.m. More...

This would never have had to happen if this gentleman would have been delt with years ago when he continued to be a danger to others.

You do not / should not allow others to operate a vehicle on the roads of the commonwealth of PA and wave a hand gun at others.

You are correct 11:05 this shouldn't have happen either way. From what i have heard this guy had been mentally unstable for years and should have been dealt with before it came to this. however, that didn't happen now it just comes down to PSP murdering another person in need of help. Must be they figure a bullet is a lot cheaper than all the doctor and hospital bills. You cant tell me that with 20 to 30 cops you cant overpower an 81 year old man with a revolver. shit it probably took him 2 minutes to reload. So you listen for the sixth shot and charge in, not rocket science PSP but then again its cheaper for the state to just murder these people rather than help them. Good job PSP keep up the good work.
RIP James Pizzinato
