Minor Injuries In Rt. 44/49 Crash Sunday Near Coudersport

State Police are investigating a two vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of Route 44 and Route 49 on Sunday at 4:20 pm in Eulalia Township.

Adam M. Banks, 21, of Rochester, NY, was driving south on Route 44 in a 2004 Pontiac Vibe.

Nathaniel M. Kosa, 19, of Coudersport, PA, was driving west on Route 49 in a 1999 Nissan Maxima GLE.

Banks stopped at the stop sign at the intersection. He then entered the intersection to proceed in an easterly direction. He didn't yield to Kosa's westbound car. Kosa swerved to the right in an attempt to miss Banks. Kosa's vehicle struck Banks vehicle in the driver's side rear corner with his driver's side front corner. The impact took place in the westbound lane.

After the initial impact, Banks drove his Pontiac to a place of safety on the south side of Rt. 49. Kosa's Nissan traveled through the intersection, off the north berm where it impacted an embankment.

Kosa and his passenger, Felicia M. Houghtaling, 19, of Westfield, PA, suffered minor injuries and were transported to Charles Cole Hospital by Coudersport Ambulance.

Banks was not injured. He will be cited with a Stop Sign violation. in District Court 55-3-01.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Kightlingers Motors.

Coudersport Fire Department responded to the scene and assisted troopers.
