Smethport Residents OK After Rt. 219 Crash

Smethport Man Rolls Truck

WESB News

A Smethport man is facing charges after a one vehicle accident Tuesday morning on Route 219 in Elk County. State Police say that a pickup truck driven by 27 year-old Ryan Austin fishtailed on a wet roadway, went out of control and rolled over twice. Austin and two passengers, both from Smethport, were wearing seatbelts and uninjured in the mishap.

It amazes me that in this state you can no longer even have a car accident on a wet day without incurring the wrath of the PA State Police. I read it over and over again on here. Its bad enough you were in an accident and messed up your vehicle.....then you have to worry about the state penalizing you for having an accident. It is ridiculous.

Well... generally, fishtail + roll truck on "wet pavement" usually means "lead-foot louie went too dang fast and paid the price"

if it's wet, especially this time of year, might help a wee bit to ease up off the gas pedal a tad...

but then, again, maybe I'm just an old f*rt, and don't know nuttin .. all y'all kids know it all these days... maybe there's some magical extra special air you put in your tires that you don't need to slow down like the rest of us do...

Wet roadways don't cause a person to lose control of their vehicle and roll it...TWICE.

Sorry, but he wouldn't have lost control if he hadn't been going too fast for conditions. I do agree that sometimes law enforcement/government attempt to micro manage our lives to the point of ridiculousness but this is simply carelessness and a fine will make him more careful next time.

I know at least 2 that were in this vehicle at the time. Don't be so quick to judge. Unless you were there, you don't know the story.

I'm just glad all are okay for the most part.

That kid and his passengers are lucky to be alive. Quit going so fast in the rain, or better yet, in general. You put yourself and others at risk, obviously, shown in this incident.

and see i thought there was something in the air that made the older generation know exactly what was going on in this exact instance? I always find humor when people post "You kids are just a bunch of know-it-alls" when they are assuming that they KNOW my age and in this case the exact cause of this crash, thus implying that you in fact know it all. Don't try and condescend me by implying that I am youthful when I am fairly certain it says Anonymous above my post. I was commenting on the fact that accidents are not longer an option in our society. We try and teach our children that accidents happen and are sometimes unavoidable, Meanwhile the state is teaching its police officers to squeeze as much as they can out of us.

law enforcement is a bussiness today not a service.
