Spooktacular Event At Lyman Run State Park October 30th

Lyman Run State Park and the Friends of Lyman Run will be sponsoring a Halloween program for young children at the park on Saturday, October 30 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm.

The “Spooktacular” will take place in the day- use area of the park and will include rides through the “haunted Daggett campground” on a horse- drawn wagon where several of the campsites will be inhabited by spooks and witches who will be giving out candy as the wagon passes by. The park’s pavilion area will be the site for pumpkin painting as well as the place to get refreshments. Cider, hot chocolate and cookies will be available. Donation for this event is one dollar per person.

If the weather is terrible, the event will be cancelled, so please check for any cancellation notice by calling the park office at (814) 435-5010. Also, anyone who is interested in being a “haunted character” in the campground may also volunteer for “scare duty” by calling the park office at the number mentioned above. Volunteers should plan to be at the park by 11:45 am so they can get set up in the campground. They should also plan to bring lawn chairs to sit on if they prefer that to sitting on the campsite’s picnic tables.

Friends of Lyman Run is a chapter member of the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping maintain the stewardship of the natural resources located within our State Parks and Forests. Membership in the Friends Group is $10 a year and this year the group sponsored a Women in Nature series at the park and they plan to develop a downhill sledding and ice skating area this winter at the park.

Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy the “Spooktacular” which has been designed with families and younger children in mind. Kids are encouraged to come out in their costumes and get some trick or treating done early!
