State Police--Lock Your Vehicles, Homes & Garages

As a result of a rash of thefts from motor vehicles in the Emporium area, State Police have called for residents to lock their vehicles, homes and garages.

Overnight on Sunday into Monday, unknown actor(s) removed change from unlocked vehicles on South Mountain Road in Shippen Township owned by Barbara Aikens, Valerie Gaberseck, Brandon Kamats, and William Peluso.

At 3:10 am on Monday morning, unknown actors removed a Stihl chainsaw from a vehicle owned by Jerry McDivitt and parked at his residence at 181 Linderwood Drive in Emporium.

Everybody in the sticks down here leaves their vehicles and most times homes unlocked... It is just expected that nobody will tamper with whats not their own. Well, looks like that assumption was dead wrong.

it sucks. when I was growing up, used to be, you could go for an overnight trip , and not bother locking doors, and you KNEW no one would bother your stuff.. neighbors could walk right in , help themselves to a glass of water, use your phone, and then they'd leave a note and usually "overpay" and leave some money sitting with it, just as an example.. those days are LONG gone, sadly... was a lot nicer when you knew you could trust the people in your town... but then again, that was back when people knew and understood what "hard work" really is... and werent expecting life to be handed to them on a silver platter...

I still won't lock my doors.

Besides, locks are for honest people. However, booby-traps are for thieves.

If i need to I'll start setting some booby-traps :)

.... but I won't be locking my home like I live in some ghetto.

All these camp burglaries in and home invasion in cameron county are being done by the same few people. And the majority of county residents have a very good idea who the main culprit is,just can't prove it. And it is most certainly for PILLS AND HERION

Agree with you 100%!! Good post!
Those sure were the days.

9:32...premeditated murder? Are you kidding me? There's a huge difference between "booby traps" and "land mines". Sounds to me like they want to catch a thief or scare one off, not kill one. It's an equally dangerous thing to make unfounded assumptions about the intentions of others! Here are a few more legal terms for you to toss around: false statements, slander, libel, misrepresentation...
innocent until proved guilty....need I go on?
