Troy R. Hooftallen, 36, of Punxsutawney, formerly of Austin, PA

Troy R. Hooftallen, 36, of Punxsutawney, formerly of Austin, PA, died Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Allegheny General Hospital.

Born July 6, 1974 at Charles Cole Hospital in Coudersport, PA. He is the son of Barbara J. Wingard of Punxsutawney, and Perry E. Hooftallen and wife Sue of Roulette. His maternal grandparents are Earl and Veronica May of Sagamore.

Troy previously worked as the assistant manager at Price Chopper in Scranton.

He was an avid Denver Broncos fan, enjoyed playing basketball, softball, lifting weights and being outdoors.

In addition to his parents he survived by two brothers, Terry Hooftallen and wife Rhoda of Austin, and Tim Hooftallen of Punxsutawney, one sister, Betty Hooftallen of Roulette. Lifetime companion, Kimberly Hall, and her children Joshua, Jacob, Marissa and Melissa of Punxsutawney. Niece, Madison Hooftallen, nephews, Dawson and Matthew Hooftallen. Several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, John Wingard, paternal grandfather, Elias and Eva (Burkett) Hooftallen.

Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Big Run.

Tragic loss, Troy was such a good spirited friend, always smiling and laughing. He will be fondly remembered as a stand up guy, willing to do anything for his friends at the drop of a hat. Deepest sympathies to his family. R.I.P. Bro.

Many Many Prayers out to the families invovled in Troy's life, he will be missed by many! I can not phathom losing a child & there just can not be the right or enough words to say at a time like this, my sincere thoughts & prayers go up to Jesus for the loved ones of Troy,
