Two Cars Crash In Front Of Sweden Valley Manor Friday

An eight year old Galeton girl was transported to Charles Cole Memorial Hospital for treatment of a minor injury on Friday at 3:17 pm after the car she was riding in was struck by another vehicle that was pulling out of the Sweden Valley Manor onto Route 6.

Troopers said the crash occurred as G. Marie O'Donnell, 63, of Galeton was driving an Outback east on Route 6.

Michele A. Hults, 36, of Port Allegany, driving a 2000 Jeep Liberty, was attempting to make a left turn onto Route 6 from the parking lot of Sweden Valley Manor. Hults proceeded onto Route 6 before verifying the move could be made safely, and impacted the side of O'Donnell's car.

All occupants were wearing seat belts and the only one injured was the 8 year old girl who was a rear seat passenger in the O'Donnell car.

Hults will be cited for "Vehicles Entering Roadway." Coudersport Fire Dept. and Coudersport Ambulance responded to the scene.

I drive by the Sweden Valley Manor all the time and there have been many many times I have been going east right by it and someone from that parking just pulls out in front of me. I am not sure why those people don't stop and look first. I have almost gotten hit several times. Just the other day I had to swerve into the oncoming lane to avoid being hit.

Something should be done about the Wayne Paving sign that blocks the view of drivers leaving the Sweden Valley Manor. You have to pull out quite a way to see if anything is coming from Rt 6 West.

Glad to hear everyone is ok thats the most important thing.....i work at the manor and i always use the other entrance of the manor parking lot reason being that it is hard to see coming out of the other side of the parking lot. you have to pull way out almost into the road to see past the sign in the way....so you really cant blame people for pulling out in front of you cuz they really cant see whats coming without driving half way in the road to begin with..........
