Walter E. Campbell, 84, of 87 Hillside Ave., Bradford, PA

Walter E. Campbell, 84, of 87 Hillside Ave., passed away, Tuesday, October 12th, 2010 at Bradford Manor.

Born April 29, 1926, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Oakley and Mary (Hardy) Campbell.

On July 16, 1949 at the First Baptist Church in Bradford, he married Doris M. (Courteau) Campbell who survives.

Mr. Campbell attended Bradford High School. On October 19, 1944 he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the tank battalion in Central Europe during WW II. He received the Army of Occupation Medal, The Europen Africian Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal and was honorably discharged on August 8th, 1946. After the service he returned to Boviard and Seyfang where he worked for 26 years and then worked 20 years as a security guard for St. Bonaventure University, retiring in 1995.

In addition to his wife he is survived by three daughters, Dianna (Rodney) Lewis, Judy Pearman and Dona Welch all of Bradford, four sisters, Jean Ammons of Port St. Lucy, FL, Pauline Ekas of Bradford, Carol Yeager of Allegany, NY, and Sandra Calderwood of Bradford, one brother, Floyd Campbell of Limestone, NY, eight grandchildren; Shawn (Molly) Lewis, Beth Springer, Patty Campbell, Mike Campbell, David Welch, Craig Pearman, Steve (Tammy) Pearman and Terri Pearman, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Walter C. Campbell, one sister Evelyn Wagner and three brothers Jack, Lyle, and Howard Campbell.

Family will be receiving friends on Thursday, October 14, 2010 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. East Main St. where funeral and committal services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 15th, with Rev. David Bunnell, pastor of Hill Memorial United Methodist Church officiating. Military Honors and committals services will follow in McKean Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions if desired may be made to Dialysis Center.
