Mary C. Curtis, 86, of Kansas Branch Road , Duke Center, PA

DUKE CENTER, PA - Mary C. Curtis, 86, of Kansas Branch Road passed away Friday (Nov. 19, 2010) at the Pavilion at Bradford Regional Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 19, 1923, in Olean, NY, a daughter of the late Chauncey and Frances Smith Wasson.

On May 5, 1945, she married Franklin W. Curtis in the Knapp Creek (NY) United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death Nov. 5, 2008.

She was a homemaker for many years, and later she was the head librarian for Otto-Eldred School District for a number of years, retiring in 1997.

She was a member of the Duke Center United Methodist Church, a past member of the Duke Center Garden and Study Club, a worthy matron of the Keystone Chapter #2 Order of the Eastern Star of Duke Center, a member of the Duke Center Bridge Club, and a member of the PSEA Retired Teachers Association.

She loved her children and especially her grandchildren; she enjoyed reading to them and studying with them. She also enjoyed vegetable gardening and canning.

She is survived by two sons, Randolph (Carol) Curtis and Andrew "AJ" Curtis, both of Duke Center; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Ann Wasson.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred, where an Eastern Star service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday (Nov. 22, 2010) at 11 a.m. at the Duke Center United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Sheesley officiating.

Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette Township.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Duke Center United Methodist Church.
