Emery W. Aharrah, 83 of 63 Rutherford Run, Bradford, Pa

Emery W. Aharrah, 83, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, of 63 Rutherford Run, passed away, Wednesday, December 8th, 2010 at his residence.

Born November 25, 1927, in Sheffield Twp. Warren County, he was the son of the late Alvie W. and Lillie E. (Work) Aharrah.

On February 25, 1950 in Cyclone he married Phyllis A. (Ishman) Aharrah who survives.

Mr. Aharrah attended Cyclone schools and was a 1945 graduate of Smethport High School.

As a young man he worked in the local oil fields with his father. In August of 1950 he began working as a field hand at Minard Run Oil Company. In 1958 he was promoted to Assistant Superintendent and was appointed Superintendent in 1985. He was appointed Superintendent Emeritus in 2009 and remained active with Minard Run until the time of his death.

He was a blacksmith and a 4-H Leader for many years and as such was an influence for many young people. He was superintendent of the horses for the McKean County Fair Association. He enjoyed roller skating, boating, and raising pigs, chickens and horses. He attended the Bradford Alliance Church.

Surviving are two daughters: Nancy Moore, of Fox Lake, WI, and Betty Falconi of Bradford, four granddaughters: Lauri Sherwood, Jayme Litterini, Mary Short and Katie Moore, five great grandchildren: Hannah Zapata, Hunter Emery Litterini, Marissa Short, Micah Short and Miranda Short, and many cousins.

Family will be receiving friends on Sunday, December 12, 2010, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. South Ave. and again on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 in the Bradford Alliance Church where funeral and committal services will be held at 11:00 with Rev. Kenneth Dunkerley, pastor, and Rev. Wilbur Barber co-officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park.
