7th Street Bridge Getting Ready To Go To CARP

Workers from LC WHITFORD CO. have been working on the Seventh Street bridge to have it ready to be removed by a crane, placed on a trailer and placed in C.A.R.P Park in a safe area where it will be fenced in and secured where it will remain there until the new Seventh Street bridge is completed.

At that time it will be placed over the channel at Fourth Street and will be limited to foot traffic only.

Dick Fanton of LC Whitford said the bridge is completely free of it footings and is being jacked up and placed on I-beams that will be welded to the bridge to help secure it , and bracing has been welded to the bridge to help stabilize the structure during lifting and transporting.

Work on the project will continue as long as weather permits. Fanton said his crew will be working on storm drains on both sides of the bridge in the next week and apologized for any inconvenience the work has caused.

One would "think" that this good little puppy does things all by himself. Not that well trained though. This project took years to move it from the Planning Commission's 12 Hwy/Bridge Program. And, the only reason why it took so long was because Coudersport Borough didn't have the funds to move it forward. So look to the Borough Manager - certainly little lou wasn't even in Potter County at that time.
