Gov. Tom Corbett was notified this week that his plan to rescind the moratorium on drilling for natural gas on state lands will come with legal repercussions. On Tuesday, Camp Hill attorney John Childe filed a notice of intent to sue on behalf of the Pennsylvania Environmental Defense Foundation. Funny how you didn't see any lawsuits to allow PA and its residents the right to extract their resources when then Governor Rendell put the order to discontinue in place.

This is just another example of extremist environmentalists and overzealous attorneys looking to make a buck.

Realize people that natural gas exploration is here. Why not fight to make sure it is done responsibly and with as minimal of an impact as possible.

EXTREMIST ENVIRONMENTALISTS!!!!!!

lol

Yeah, because it's such an EXTREME viewpoint to think we may want to preserve our state lands instead of selling them off to the lowest bidder.

Oh that's right, they are only 'leasing' it. They'll give it back just as good as they found it, they promise.

Mr 5:59
How much land must be open for drilling at any one time? The land currently available before Rendell's moratorium is more than adequate to keep drillers busy for years. Squandering resources is what has the world in an energy debt. Don't you want future generations to have the energy that we take for granted?
I am NOT an extreme environmentalist, just someone who looks to the future. You should too!

I think 5:59 was being sarcastic.

This is just red tape, it will take years for them to sue. And in the mean time drilling will continue... God help us all!

Since ALL drilling is 100% SAFE, why don't we drill in school yards and use the revenue to off set school taxes?

They can drill in school yards if they choose.

South Fayette recently addressed this issue and put zoning in place after the drillers planned to drill near their school.

If a school yard is in between a gas driller and the gas they will drill unless ordinances are put in place to prevent it.

1:13 seriously it would be a good idea.

I love the taste of tap water methane. Why is it that natural gas is the only thing Pennsylvania can produce. I mean can't we have factories producing wind mills, solar panels?
