Ruth Imogene "Annie" Lamb, 90, Erie, PA, Former Eldred, PA Resident

Ruth Lamb died in her home in Erie on Monday, January 31, 2011at the age of 90. She was formerly of Eldred, Pa.

During World War II, Ruth worked in Erie at Lord's Manufacturing doing defense work as one of the original "Rosie Riveters".

She was an active member of Eldred Township Fire Department Auxiliary and the local VFW Club.

Born in Brookville, Pa. on July 19, 1920, she is the daughter of Spurgeon and Hazel Witherow. She was married to Robert Lamb on June 8, 1946.

During her married life, she worked as a seamstress and supervisor for Ethan Allen furniture from where she retired.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Juanita Buchanan.

Survivors include her brother, The Reverend Spurgeon Witherow, and his wife, Lucille, of Youngsville, Pa.; her nephews, Terry Witherow and Mark Witherow and his wife, Heather, of Erie; her nieces, Dottie Linton and her husband, Dale, of Cochranton, Pa., and Peggy Russell of Youngstown, Pa.; and several great nieces and nephews. Special friends include Duane Seib, Marion Dougherty, Kim Stucke ad Richard and Arlene Bardsley of Erie.

Friends may call at the Merle E. Wood Funeral Home, Inc., 215 W. 25th St., on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Harry Johns, officiating.
